Good Morning MSAD No. 75 Community,
Today marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, a day that forever changed our nation and the lives of countless families and communities. As we go about our morning, we are reminded of key moments throughout this day—starting at 8:46 a.m., the exact time the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center, signaling the start of a tragedy that altered our country forever.
For those who remember that day, the images, uncertainty, and profound sense of loss remain deeply personal. We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the families whose lives were changed forever, and the first responders, public servants, and ordinary citizens who demonstrated extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable circumstances.
Twenty-five years later, many of the students in our schools know September 11 only through history lessons, family stories, photographs, and the reflections of those who lived through it. As educators, we have an important responsibility not only to help students understand the events of that day, but also to help them understand the lessons that followed, the importance of compassion, service, courage, community, and caring for one another.
In the days following September 11, Americans came together in ways that many still remember vividly. Neighbors helped neighbors. Communities supported one another. First responders ran toward those who needed help. People found strength in connection and in a shared commitment to care for one another. Those lessons continue to matter.
As we remember September 11, I hope we also reflect on the kind of community we want to be today—one where we see each other, listen to one another, extend kindness, and recognize our shared humanity. These are values we work to cultivate every day across MSAD 75 and within each of our four communities.
On this 25th anniversary, we honor those whose lives were lost, those who served and sacrificed, and the families who continue to carry the impact of that day. Our schools will observe a moment of silence tomorrow morning to honor this day.
May we remember with respect, teach with care, and continue to build a community grounded in kindness, courage, and hope.
