What are the other eligibility requirements for applicants?
1. Past or present MESA student
2. Graduating high school senior
3. 2.75 GPA or above
4. Pursuing a STEM education program at a 2- or 4-year institution
5. Completed at least 4 combined years of Math and Science (2 years math, 2 years science) during high school
6. Provide 2 letters of recommendation: one from a MESA Teacher or MESA Staff member, and one from any teacher, staff, or community member who can speak to your abilities
7. Provide most recent high school transcript (unofficial copy is sufficient)

ATTENTION ALL WHITE SWAN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS!!!!

Are you interested in Environmental Science? Do you like camping? Consider participating in People of the Big River. Travel across eastern Washington and central Oregon on a 14-day academic field experience. Connect with tribal elders, scientists, and natural resource managers for a unique study that blends Western science with traditional ecosystem knowledge.

This project is in partnership with the Heritage University, US Forest Service, and Heritage University’s Center for Indigenous Health, Culture and Environment and the First Nations MESA program.

DAYS OF ACTION
Each year, United Way of Central Washington coordinates a Day of Action that brings together multiple volunteers who are committed to creating positive change in our community. Teams of volunteers work on projects for partner organizations and meet multiple needs in our community. This year, they are devoting an entire week (November 8th-13th) for Days of Action.

From everyone at First Nations MESA, we thank you for volunteering your time into creating STEM kits. Over 500 kits were made and will be distributed to our MESA students throughout the Yakama Reservation and Yakima Valley.
