Hello, my name is Rosa Ortiz
I am running for Toppen*sh School Board District because I want to make difference in the overall quality of education for each student. My son graduated in 2020 and joined the Airforce. My daughter graduated in 2013 and has a bachelor’s degree from Central WA University. I work at Yakima Valley Farm Workers as a program coordinator and have been working with this orga
nization for the past 23 years in various roles. One of my roles since 2013 has been coordinating the ConneX Summer Academy. ConneX is a program that identifies young people living in the Yakima Valley of Washington State who are interested in healthcare careers. The focus is to motivate this diverse group of students to excel in school and their personal lives, to pursue higher education, and to eventually realize their goals of becoming a health professional. The high school program offers long-term educational guidance to fulfill the aspirations of students to enter a healthcare field. I also enjoy serving my community whenever I can. My Boards, Committees and Awards are the following:
2017 Recipient of the Fred Hutch Community Champion Award for making a positive impact on the community through selfless contributions and outstanding work.
2013 Recipient of the National Points of Light Award for the Community HealthCorps AmeriCorps Program.
10/2012 – Present – Sergeant of Arms, Community Safety Network Board (CSN) of Toppen*sh
"Working Together for a Safer, Cleaner and Stronger Community"
2010- Present – Toppen*sh Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Chairwoman
2004 - 2008 -Toppen*sh Community Chest (Food Bank), Board Secretary
