We had a wonderful 8th Grade Promotion today! We are still going through pictures and will post them last. But we wanted to share the poem that our 8th-grade US History Teacher wrote for our 8th graders! Thank you, Miss North!

Capable of More: 2026 8th-Grade Class Poem

Fourteen years inside these halls,
Watching sneakers race the floors,
Hearing laughter spill through doorways
Before the first hour even starts.
And somehow, every class
Leaves its own fingerprint behind.

This group?
You were loud in the best ways.
Unpredictable.
Funny without trying.
The kind of class that could test patience
And still make a teacher smile five minutes later.

Before the announcements finished,
Before lessons could begin,
All it took was one voice calling—
“Ohio!”
And suddenly the room answered back.

In the hallways.
Walking in late.
Across classrooms and crowded mornings.
“Ohio!” became more than a joke.
It became a connection.
A reminder that even in chaos,
We saw each other.

This year was not always easy.
There were moments when excuses
Tried to speak louder than accountability.

Moments when giving up
Seemed easier than trying again.
Moments when some of you
Shrunk yourselves down
Before the world ever had the chance to measure your greatness.

But growth rarely looks perfect.
Sometimes growth looks like
Owning your mistakes.
Trying again after failing.
Choosing maturity one time
More than you did before.
Speaking up.
Showing up.
Believing you are capable
Even when doubt sits heavily on your shoulders.
And trust me—
There is capability in every single one of you.

I have seen it in the student
Who finally realized their voice mattered.
In the student who learned discipline.
In the student who discovered they were smarter
Than they allowed themselves to believe.

In the quiet ones.
In the stubborn ones.
In the leaders who didn’t yet know they were leaders.
You are not finished products.
None of us are.

But you are leaving these halls
With more strength, more wisdom,
And more potential than you walked in with.

So, as you leave Eisenhower Middle School,
Home of the Eagles,
Remember this:
The world will give you countless chances
To settle for less than you are capable of becoming.

“It’s a no for me.”
No to quitting on yourself.
No to shrinking your dreams.
No to believing you cannot rise higher
Than where you started.

Because the truth is,
Your story is only beginning.
And somewhere years from now,
When life gets loud and complicated,
Maybe you will hear a familiar voice in your head saying—
“Ohio!”

And maybe you will remember
A school full of people who believed
You could be more.

Love,
Miss North
