Hey friends in T-town - if you are in town or close by - some of us will be gathering Saturday night about 8:30 pm to raise a glass on honor of our classmate Liz Fisher (Irwin). Who recently passed away from COVID-19. Our Fellow Capper Jr High & T-West classmate Terry James will be in town & would love to see folks as well. Hoping we can get some tables outside (Debbie Benge Harrod)?? So we can safely socially distance 😀 Come & bring your memories & photos of Liz to remember her 💞💝🌸🌺

I wanted to share a little story from today - so in my job advocating for home care & hospice - we sometimes take members of Congress on home health care visits. Today we took the health legislative aide from Senator Robert's office on a visit. As we entered the man's apartment, my eyes went straight to a photo on his organ...I immediately recognized the photo as one of our classmates from Capper Junior High. It was Rick Wallace - the patient we were seeing was his dad. I relayed to Mr. Wallace that I had been a Capper classmate of Rick's & that Bryce Warner (who was a close friend of Rick's) had been one of my husband's best friends. He relayed the story of a police officer knocking on his door one night back in during our junior high days...the officer asked him to step out onto the porch & look down the street & what did he see? Mr. Wallace said it was dark - the officer said, that's right your son & his friend (Rick & Bryce) had been shooting the street lights out with their bb guns. LOL - my husband got a kick out of that story. I remember Rick & Bryce hanging out together - Bryce was a big boy & Rick was small in stature. His dad asked me if i realized Rick had taken his own life. I said yes...he said the blessing was that Rick's two brothers were able to learn from his mistakes. It was a nice visit in addition to showing the Leg Aide what home health patient's receive in their own home.

MY NAME IS SUSAN, AND I WAS SITTING IN THE WAITING ROOM FOR MY FIRST APPOINTMENT WITH A NEW DENTIST. I NOTICED HIS DDS DIPLOMA ON THE WALL, WHICH BORE HIS FULL NAME.
SUDDENLY, I REMEMBERED A TALL, HANDSOME, DARK-HAIRED BOY WITH THE SAME NAME HAD BEEN IN MY HIGH SCHOOL CLASS SOME 30-ODD YEARS AGO.
COULD HE BE THE SAME GUY THAT I HAD A SECRET CRUSH ON, WAY BACK THEN? UPON SEEING HIM, HOWEVER, I QUICKLY DISCARDED ANY SUCH THOUGHT.
THIS BALDING, GRAY-HAIRED MAN WITH THE DEEPLY LINED FACE WAS WAY TOO OLD TO HAVE BEEN MY CLASSMATE. AFTER HE EXAMINED MY TEETH, I ASKED HIM IF HE HAD ATTENDED MORGAN PARK HIGH SCHOOL .
”YES. YES, I DID. I'M A MUSTANG,” HE GLEAMED WITH PRIDE.
“WHEN DID YOU GRADUATE?” I ASKED.
HE ANSWERED, “IN 1975. WHY DO YOU ASK?”
“YOU WERE IN MY CLASS!” I EXCLAIMED.
HE LOOKED AT ME CLOSELY.
THEN, THAT UGLY,
OLD,
BALD,
WRINKLED FACED,
FAT-ASSED,
GRAY-HAIRED,
DECREPIT
OLD MAN
ASKED,
”WHAT SUBJECT DID YOU TEACH?”

Ok guys, it has been brought to my attention and the attention of the committee that we do something nice for Dick Hansen (my friend that showed us the school). He is a great guy as you found out and loved showing us his workplace. Any suggestions? Don't be shy!!!!
