The last couple of days in Edinburgh, Scotland were very busy for our Sports and Politics in the UK group! On Monday the group started tge morning at the storied Edinburgh Castle. After lunch we were given a tour of the modern Scottish Parliament and learned about how their government is unique. After that Karen Garrison and a few students braved the climb up Arthur's Seat to see the amazing view above Edinburgh. That evening the group took a Mary's Close historical tour that taught us all above the sad living conditions for much of the city and how that lead to many plague related deaths. On Tuesday we started the morning with an awesome history of medicine tour. Edinburgh was the home to one of the first premier med schools and have links to a lot of major medical advances. After the tour we went to Edinburgh University's Surgeon Hall Museum which has an unbelievable collection of anatomical and medical specimens. They unfortunately dont allow any pictures. Our last group activity was an Edinburgh Dungeon tour. This was a super fun and engaging way to learn all about Edinburghs history. They also do not allow pictures! Wednesday was a travel day that lead to delays, reschedules, and 7 of the group having to stay another night in Boston - we learned how to make lemonade from lemons by visiting part of Boston harbor with our unexpected detour. That group finally made it home today!
What an amazing trip we had! Washburn University Washburn University College of Arts and Sciences

The first couple of days in Edinburgh for the Sports and Politics study abroad has been great! On our travel from London to Edinburgh we stopped for a few hours in York. What a beautiful city! When we arrived in Edinburgh students had the option to go on a Rick Steve's guided tour of the Royal Mile. It was beautiful at dusk. Our first full day we got out of the city to a little town called Blackford to experience their Highland Games. Students were divided into teams and had to do a scavenger hunt which had a lot to with forcing students to engage with the locals. It was a wonderful day and cultural experience for our students in a beautiful, rural part of Scotland. In the evening a large percentage of students joined on a haunted ghost tour focused on the Grey Friars cemetery that is supposedly the most haunted one in the world. Our guide was excellent! Today is everyone's free day and we have groups going hiking, to different castles, touring Edinburgh, and many other places! Washburn University Washburn University College of Arts and Sciences

Its been another couple of busy days for the Sports and Politics in the UK group! Wednesday we started off with a bit of a relaxed morning where some students went shopping and some went to the British Museum with Karen and Dr. Moddelmog. We then went and experienced all the amazing history at the Lord's Cricket Grounds. In the evening we were given official lessons on how to play croquet from the Hampstead Heath Cricket Club. It was a beautiful night for that and all the students had fun! One of our instructors was originally from Ohio so it was cool to hear his story. Today students had a free day. Some went to Bletchley Park, others took in palaces and parks, a few went to Bath, some went zip lining, battleships and cathedrals were also seen. Tomorrow morning we head north for Scotland and cooler weather! It has been anywhere from 80-95 as a high in London while we have been here.....just like Kansas summers, except nothing here has air conditioning!
