Matt has been invaluable to Kansas Operation Lifesaver. He serves as our Board President, as an OLAV coach, and was also the first RISC presenter/coach in Kansas. He has a heart for public safety & we’re lucky that he also like trains a lot! Thanks for all you do Captain Matt Vogt!

Thanks to our Law Enforcement partners for helping spread the railroad crossing safety message!

KHP troopers from Troop A worked together with Gardner Police Department, Johnson County, KS Sheriff's Office, and BNSF Railway Police to conduct an Operation Lifesaver lane to promote railroad safety!

Why I refuse to photograph on train tracks | Photofocus

Why I refuse to photograph on train tracks | Photofocus Train tracks. We’ve all heard arguments for, and against, photographing on or near them. It is with great sadness to report the passing of former Ks Operation Lifesaver volunteer Don Detwiler. Don was one of the founding members of Kansas Operation Lifesaver in 1974. Don was a career railroader and worked for the Rock Island, Cotton Belt / Southern Pacific and Union Pacific Railroads. Don also served as a member of the Ks Operation Lifesaver Board of Directors. His dedication of sharing the OL safety message through numerous programs and events across the State of Kansas inevitably saved many lives. Don was well known for his work coordinating the KSOL booth at the Kansas State Fair and providing railroad crossing safety information at the Kansas School Bus Rodeos. On behalf of the Kansas Operation Lifesaver family, we send our condolences to Don's family and friends.
