As the holiday season starts rolling in... we will be working with some enterprising young people to help promote and market supportive small businesses online.

As part of their youth enterprise development experience, we have several young people that need to conduct some interviews of local small businesses and nonprofits in Topeka...!

We are working with them on their interviewing skills, how to communicate professionally and teaching them to use computer technology to earn an income ( ) by adding new businesses to our online Kansas Small Business Directory

To make this process easy, we have linked a form for interested local Topeka small businesses and nonprofit organizations to use if interested in working with our young people by allowing them to interview you; while learning about your business or organizations.

Apply for a Registered Apprenticeship State Grant

This grant is designed to support new and existing Registered Apprenticeship programs across Kansas while expanding opportunities for youth ages 16 and 17 to launch rewarding careers in high-wage, high-demand fields.

The Kansas Office of Registered Apprenticeship will award approximately four to six grants totaling $400,000. Individual grant awards will range from $60,000 to $100,000 and support program activities over a 12-month performance period.

Eligible Applicants Must:
Possess a RAPIDS number or commit to establishing a Registered Apprenticeship program within three months of award selection.

Demonstrate a plan to engage current or prospective employers or new apprentices in high-wage, high-demand industries.

Identify target occupations and industries using NAICS codes.
Maintain an address in Kansas and actively conduct business within the state.

Be in good standing with both the Kansas Department of Revenue and the Kansas Office of Registered Apprenticeship.

Award Requirements:

Newly registered programs must enroll a minimum of five Registered Apprentices within 12 months of award selection. Established programs must demonstrate a 5% year-over-year increase in apprenticeship enrollment within high-wage, high-demand occupations.

Awardees must register at least two apprentices ages 16-17 or complete a minimum of four structured K–12 and community engagement activities, such as presentations to students, school counselors, school boards, chambers of commerce or local governing bodies and coordinated site visits with K-12 partners. Career fairs do not count toward this requirement.
