It’s contest season! Our Vet Science team started off with a bang with a 3rd place finish at the Eudora contest. We followed that up with a trip to Miami County for Vet Science, Entomology, and Livestock Judging. Very proud of these students for stepping out of their comfort zones and taking advantage of opportunities!

Today students volunteered with the TNR Clinic hosted by Heart of Jackson Humane Society Inc. We so appreciate opportunities to give back and learn about the important work that these organizations do!

Year two students got a chance to explore post secondary opportunities today. Big thanks to Kansas State University and Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine for hosting us for the day! The students came away excited and encouraged for their futures.

Living to Serve is a component of the FFA motto. This year our students have gotten a chance to embody that line by participating with the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine outreach and Topeka Street Dog Coalition. Students have gained valuable skills in not only vet medicine but in interacting with owners and showing genuine compassion for others. We are so thankful for these opportunities to participate in service learning.

Long overdue update. We’ve had a busy spring semester full of trips, contests and so many amazing opportunities. Our contest teams have seen lots of success and growth including a top 16 finish by Ka’myll in district livestock! Second year students got to go to the Kansas City Zoo, and we continue our partnership with local organizations caring for pets. We went to the farm and got to experience the joys of cattle As the year winds down we can’t wait to see what next year brings.

Animal Science is the GOAT… or maybe we just had them in class today! We had some special visitors today. Students got to feed and handle these adorable babies. I think it’s safe to say everyone had a good time!
