09/28/2026

The day started with Play-Doh. We then were downstairs for our number of the day, zero. We also read "Barnyard Dance" and reviewed the letters F, M and P. We had handwriting practice and indoor free play. We then went back upstairs for snack and storytime: "Mrs Wishy-Washy." The kids then got in their fine motor skills as we made houses for the 3 Little Pigs. A house made of straw, a house made of sticks and a house made of bricks. The kids are masters of properly using their marker, glue and paint materials. With the rain, we missed outside play time; however, we definitely had wiggles building so we headed downstairs for a farm dance and Pigs on the Loose! The day ended with a silly game of farmyard charades.

The cow loves cookies! That was our theme today and probably one of my favorite picture books! The day started at the ABC rug, reviewing letters F and P. We read about Pete's Perfect Pizza Party-lots of silly fun with the letter P. Then we introduced our new letter of the day, "M." We sang a song about the cows that say, "Mooo" and acted like cows. It was then handwriting practice and inside free play. We then headed upstairs for snack and our story. It's not just cows that like cookies, kids love them too... So of course we had a cookie treat while we made our own cookies. We remembered how to properly use glue and got some good fine motor skills practice. The day ended with 15 minutes of outdoor free play!

P is for Pig! The day started by reviewing letter F and introducing the letter P. We read, "Happy Pig Day" and then we played Pigs on the Loose. Ms. Sandy let our wild balloon piggies go free and the kids had to collect them depending on which letter was written on their bellies, P or F. 8 preschoolers and a playroom full of balloon pigs, it was a good time. After our game we had handwriting practice followed by outside free play. We then were inside for snack and story time. Bring out the mud (or chocolate pudding)! We made muddy, delicious piggies like in our story. Cracks me up how some kids are all in and how some refuse to put their finger in the pudding 🥴. After finger painting our muddy pigs, we had to eat some of that chocolate goodness (surprised that a few didn't want any)! The day ended watching a short video of the 3 little pigs. Oink oink 🐖🐖

Today we started our farm unit. The day began with silly farm animal stickers. I have found stickers are one of the children's favorite ways to work on fine motor skills. We then were at the ABC rug for an animal sort: wild vs. tame, a song, "Old McDonald" and our letter for the day, "F." We then had our first day of handwriting practice with our letter of the day (ask your child about Ms. Sandy's magic marker and if he liked writing the letter F-there was lots of silly screaming involved). Then it was outside free play followed by snack and the book, "Little Blue Truck." That truck teaches us a lot about being a good friend. We introduced 2 new materials today: markers and paint. We used these materials as we learned the letters in our names. The day ended with inside free play and a silly farm song which we danced to.

Day 2! I love how excited these kids are to be with each other. We started the day with reading a book about all the things we like and don't like. We played a game called, "Me too!" One child stands in the middle of the circle and tells us something they like, everyone who likes that same thing, jumps up and down saying, "Me too!" We all are different! Some of the things we like: playing with toys, eating ice cream, playing with our siblings. We then had outdoor free play. We had a group of construction workers and chefs. Ms. Sandy filled up on sand pie, soup and sand eggs. 😀 We then headed back inside for snack and 2 stories. We stayed at the table to work responsibly with a new material: glue. "Just a dot, not a lot." We then were downstairs listening to 2 songs about being a good friend. After our discussion, the kids ended the day practicing being a good friend with indoor free play.

Let the school year begin! I hope these kiddos had a great first day! They came in with lots of excitement and zero tears. In fact, one kiddo came in and the first thing he said was, "I'm ready to play with the Paw Patrol Tower!" I love it! We did do a lot of playing today. We learned each other's names, talked about caring for our classroom and each other. Ask your child about the book we read, what did that silly dinosaur do to her classmates? We learned about each other through our share bags, I believe each boy brought their favorite race car! 😀 Our girls let us know their favorite princess or Monster High girl. We then explored our playground. We will work on ending playtime, having to put away toys when your 3/4 can be rough 😉 I love their energy. (I totally forgot to give them their 1st day of preschool necklaces so we will have to change that to the 2nd day of preschool!)

And that's a preschool wrap! Today was all about having a good time, lots of games! We started with a game called "What do you like" which is a simplified version of "Do you love your neighbor?" Then we played sharks and minnows. After all that running, we had a candy necklace treat. It was then free play which consisted of the sandbox, pretend dance recitals, tag games and other play. After it was snack and storytime. The day ended with practicing our preschool songs and spelling our names!

The day started with sidewalk chalk, duck, duck, goose (with a remix) and a jumping game called "crossing the river." After these games, we reviewed some of our preschool songs then went to the backyard for free play. The kids needed to be defrosted, so we went inside for snack, books and a game called "Guess Who" which is all about guessing the preschool friend that made a mystery noise. The day ended with dancing and movement videos!

Today was our field day so we were outside the whole time, the wind couldn't stop us! The day started with sidewalk chalk, we drew our body outlines to color. Then we reviewed the songs we are going to sing at our end of year celebration. It was then "duck, duck, goose" but with an extra flare 😀 and a jumping game called "crossing the river!" After these activities we were in the backyard for free play. We enjoyed snack and 3 of Ms Sandy's favorite books (I had to fit them in before the end of the year.) The kiddos ended the day with popsicles and the last of our field day games-I hope they are worn out!

Today was all about the letter I for Ice cream! We introduced the letter of the day, sang some songs and reviewed counting to 20. I think the kids are getting ready for summer.... We had a bit more contention today than usual. We took the time to review kind/unkind words, how words can hurt feelings or make us feel good inside, and other emotional/social skills we are trying to develop. It was a good reminder to Ms. Sandy of why preschool is so important! We had handwriting practice and free play. During free play the kiddos spent some one on one time with me doing some end of year assessments. Quick assessments to show us what amazing things we have learned this year. That's what I try to focus on, look at all we've learned! The day ended with our ice cream party and 2 ice cream stories!
