Shema Homeschool Community Our mission: to encourage and facilitate educational and enrichment opportunities for local christian homeschool families!

We are not drop-off but work cooperatively to create unique class options based on the skills and passions of the families enrolled Our co-op meets at West Haven Baptist Church in Tonganoxie, KS, which is 15 minutes from KCK and 20 minutes from Lawrence! Shema Homeschool Co-op meets on Tuesdays, for 7 week quarters starting again August 23rd, 2022. Our students rotate through 3 classes that mornin

g for enrichment, friendship, learning and fun! This semester we are offering an opportunity to join us for lunch and participate in an optional class after lunch as well. We have classes for little babies, all of the way up to high school. Our high school courses seek to help you attain credits towards your student's transcripts. The cost is $50 a semester, per family.

Curious about homeschooling? Wondering if you can do it and HOW to do it??
Do you wish you could just sit down over coffee with someone experienced that could offer suggestions, ideas, prayer and advice?

We invite YOU to meet us at The Rusty Wagon in Basehor this Saturday morning from 9am-10am. Bring your situations, questions, concerns and meet some of the moms that make up the precious Shema Homeschool Co-op family!

After we get to chat for the hour, other Shema ladies will join in for our monthly ladies coffee dates as a part of building unity and fellowship within our community from 10am -12. You are also invited to stay if you would like, or you can also head out if needed.

We hope this provides an opportunity for you to meet some moms that have done it for years, maybe get some questions answered and help you prayerfully move forward!

Each month the students at Shema work to memorize a verse to earn a prize. The memory verse this month is easy - Ephesians 6:10, as we begin to memorize what the Bible says about the Armor of God this semester.

We are grateful to be able to provide this ministry and opportunity to local families choosing to home educate their children!

Our parents work cooperatively to provide amazing classes, social opportunities and care for the children that all participate in our Co-op Tuesdays and Thursdays. Sometimes these thoughtful experiences and courses incur additional costs for our group.

Some families do ask for scholarships for enrollment in order to participate in Shema Homeschool Co-op. This year, we have had a larger number than usual request scholarships. It is a JOY to be able to still have them with us, despite a challenging time for them.

Since we have seen this increase we are turning to the supporters of this community to see if YOU could help support this ministry that supports many families making sacrifices to do this for their children!

If you feel led, please consider buying some of our Teacher and Co-op supplies on Amazon to help offset our expenses, which can help us keep Shema Homeschool Co-op affordable, accessible and to be able to offer scholarships to families in need.

If you can't make a purchase, just sharing can spread the word far and wide!

NOTE: Tuesday Kindergarten class is officially FULL (Thursday is still open).

We are grateful to be able to provide this opportunity for families as we encourage children of all ages to grow in faith, wisdom, and a love for learning in a Christ-centered community.

We have classes for credit towards your High Schooler’s transcript, fun and engaging classes for Elementary and Middle School ages, and even some learning fun for younger siblings that aren’t school-aged yet!

We meet 9am - 12 and you can choose the day that fits your family or join us for BOTH:

We pray that you are having a blessed summer!

Do you think the relationship building opportunities stop once Co-op is over?

No way! We have MANY options to hang out and socialize with each other all summer long!

Are you curious about what we have going on this month?
Want to get to know some of the families in our community?

Your family is welcome to join us at any of these upcoming events! Be sure to let us know you are coming so we can look out for you!

During the school year we try to have one Field Trip a month, one Mom's Coffee Date, and we often meet up at the park after Co-op both days, pending weather! We've even had some amazing fun on rainy days sliding down the playground slides, like some of our best childhood memories.

Our hope is to create opportunities for you and your family to connect with one another, build true friendships that can grow outside of co-op, and create a true multi-age fellowship with one another!!

We have a few fun park dates lined up in May that we invite you to join us at!
Are you looking for a community for your kids to connect and grow with? Just starting to look into homeschooling? Come and hang out, ask us all of your questions, and meet some other local homeschoolers!
Our first event of the summer is TODAY! Meet us at the Basehor Civic Campus Park Splash Pad. Teens will probably play soccer and the littles have a place to cool down and play.
Mark your calendar to join us at the other places and stay posted for some of the other public events that you are welcome to join us at!
