Kids Care (Toney) Kids Care is owned and operated by Pam Lanford. Diane Hartman is the center director, and the center is open 6 A.M. to 6 P.M, Monday through Friday .

Kids Care offers services to parents with children ages 6 weeks to 12 years.

Today is _The Cat in the Hat_ Day!

Did you Know: _The Cat in the Hat_ was written after a publisher challenged Dr. Seuss to write a book first graders "couldn't put down," and gave him a list of over 400 words to use; Dr. Seuss only used 223 words from that list. This book was an instant hit and has sold well over 10 million copies.

1. When reading, your eyes look in different directions 50% of the time!
2. The world's largest book weighs over 3,000 lbs.
3. The term ‘bookworm’ started long ago when different types of insects caused damage to books by feeding on them.
4. It would take 60,000 years to read every book in the world
5. The youngest author was only 4 years old when she wrote and illustrated her book, published when she was 6.

Today, we are reading _If I Ran the Zoo_ to kick off Dr. Seuss Week.

Did you know: reading one book to your child every day from birth means that they will have experienced 300,000 more words by age 5 than their peers who are not read to? Reading to your child from birth supports and boosts brain development, builds and strengthens emotional bonds, and introduces language skills early.

"Homework" suggestion: build a fort with your little one, or find a comfortable place, and read a book tonight.

A great classic picture book option: _The Very Hungry Caterpillar_ by Eric Carle

A newer award winning book option: _Mel Fell_ by Corey R. Tabor (Caldecott winner)
