Last night’s Board meeting was a great reminder of what Manchester schools are all about: our students. 💙💛
More than 40 students were celebrated for their accomplishments as Students of the Month and Athletes of the Month. The incredibly talented Middle School Chorus was also recognized after their opportunity to perform on stage with Foreigner this summer and they treated us to an impromptu performance right there at the meeting! 🎶
Our district said a heartfelt thank you to Senior Master Sergeant Charles Taylor, who attended his final Board meeting as Military Ambassador to the Manchester Township School District. We are grateful for his service to our schools and community and wish him all the best as he heads to his new assignment at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. 🇺🇸
And finally, we had a pretty incredible homecoming. Manchester wrestling legend Jimmy Lawson is coming home to lead the program where it all started as our new head wrestling coach. 🤼
It’s nearly impossible to do Jimmy’s accomplishments justice in a Facebook post- from three NJ state heavyweight championships to wrestling at Penn State and so much more. We’re incredibly excited to welcome one of Manchester’s own back home to help inspire the next generation of student-athletes.
And looking toward the future, the district approved the extension of its current Strategic Plan through 2028, continuing the work already underway to support student achievement, belonging, opportunities, activities, athletics, arts, and the experiences that make school meaningful for kids.
Manchester doesn’t need to be convinced that sports, activities, arts, and student opportunities matter. That commitment is already here and you could see it throughout the room last night.
Our focus is on continuing that work, building on what is successful, and keeping Manchester schools moving forward.
