As the crispness of fall settles across Ocean County, it's the perfect moment to pause and reflect on your garden's journey this past year.

We invite you to stroll through your garden beds and consider what thrived and where you encountered challenges. Capturing these observations now—while the season is still fresh in your mind—will set you up for a thriving garden next spring.

Key Areas to Explore:

• Plant Performance: Note which plants flourished and which struggled.
• Soil and Water Management: How did your soil respond to prolonged dry spells or heavy rainfall? Fall is an ideal time for soil testing, allowing you to make any necessary adjustments before spring arrives!
• Pest and W**d Management: Identify any recurring problems you've faced.
• Space and Sunlight: Did your garden experience overcrowding, or did taller plants inadvertently shade the shorter ones?

Capture your garden's essence by taking photos and taking notes in a garden journal. When spring arrives, these insights will help you create a tailored plan that aligns with your garden's unique needs.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on September 11 to support the second phase of our Age-Friendly Ocean County initiative!

FCHS of Ocean County, along with Ocean County Commissioner Jennifer Bacchione, local partners, and residents, celebrated our progress on Ocean County’s Multisector Plan for Aging. We also officially launched the new Age-Friendly Ocean County Pilot Text Line.

We are grateful to everyone who is helping to make Ocean County a healthier and more connected community for all ages!

We'll be collecting neoprene items through November 30, 2026.

Feel free to drop off your old wetsuits, neoprene waders, survival suits, and other neoprene items to our Ocean County office @ 1623 Whitesville Road in Toms River.
