Self care’23
My dear Queens: with a new year on the horizon, now is the perfect time to reset, refocus and respectfully … remember who you are. 👸🏽 In 2023, remember:
🔑you are the prize — on the job, or in that relationship/situationship. Set the tone for how you want and expect to be treated. Don’t be afraid to walk away if it’s toxic. Yes, you’re strong enough to do so!
🔑PRAY. Submit your goals and fears to God. He knows what’s best for us. Give Him room to do His thing.
🔑say no to anyone or anything that drains you, makes you doubt your worth or doesn’t bring you peace. Identify your core tribe and hang on to the real ones who build you up when life gets hard.
🔑carve out time for YOU. I put myself last a lot, and pay the cost for it. Reclaim your rest, beauty/massage appointments, and girls trips. Meditate. Write. Quiet your thoughts, so you can seize each day with intentionality. Lord knows my days are cluttered if I don’t — so this is a huge priority for me going forward.
🔑drink water, exercise, take your vitamins, invest in a bomb skin care routine, and stay on top of your doctor/dentist appointments. You only get one temple. Don’t run it ragged.
🔑speak life over everything — your health, your spouse, boyfriend, children, family members, job and the next chapter of your life. There’s tangible power in our words.
🔑trust the process. If you stumble, admit what went wrong, show yourself grace and try again the next day.
🔑keep your eyes on the finish line and run your race. Don’t worry about homegirl or how much you think so and so is prospering. God is always at work, and has to make sure we’re ready to receive that big blessing we want so bad.
🔑live, laugh and love! Us Type-A people want everything figured out 24/7/365 — but that’s taxing. It’s OK to go with the flow every now then and enjoy the simple things — be it through a friendship, a new hobby or something that gets you out of your comfort zone. It’s all about balance, and we’ll never be balanced unless we throw in light-hearted memories with our serious, always-on-the-grind lifestyle.
I love you! 🫶🏽
