To all of my first and second grade families I want to say thank you. Thank you for supporting me as I teach your children from afar and you help to carry it over at home. I am fortunate to have families like you who are devoted to their children's learning. This is not an easy task and you are all doing such a wonderful job! From the bottom of my heart know that I am grateful for all of you. Tell the kids I love them and miss them!!

CTL is an innovative PK-11 private school with plans to expand through 12th grade. The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) provides an intimate, personalized environment tailored to each student’s needs.

We group students in multi-age classrooms and limit class sizes to twenty, allowing teachers to build stronger relationships with individual students and differentiate instruction accordingly. We use paper-and-pencil tests less frequently than traditional schools, instead relying on alternative forms of assessment such as projects and portfolios that paint a more complete picture of each student’s

After researching and learning about aspects of the medieval civilization of China (rulers, government, military defense, life, and culture), 5th and 6th grade Social Studies students came together to share what they had discovered.

Round table discussions in social studies are always a time of rich discourse and learning where everyone gets to be the expert. The students enjoy this immensely and learn such in-depth information.

CTL 3rd and 4th graders each chose a Colonial Williamsburg trade to research and showcase at the CTL Williamsburg Fair. Parents and other students were able to tour through the fair and listen to the students' presentations. Everyone was amazed by their knowledge and the engaging displays they created for each profession! Grades 3/4 did a wonderful job and had so much fun doing it! 👏👏

Starting off Monday with a sweet throwback to CTL Kindness Week in grades 5-11...Can every week be this great‽

Grades 5-11 enjoyed a wonderful week of kindness with Secret Cupid. At the beginning of the week, students drew a name so they could shower this secret person with kindness. Some students gave notes, extra acts of kindness, or special treats or gifts throughout the week to the person they drew. At the end of the week, each Secret Cupid was revealed. Some students were completely surprised, and some had fun guessing who had them. The students loved this activity as it's a wonderful reminder to know that you are always thought of. 💝

Students in grades 5-6 created rectangular prisms and then used their math skills to find the volume of their prisms. Students were curious if any three sided lengths create a triangle. Spoiler alert—they do not!

Grades 5-8 presented another great round of book projects this trimester! They showcased their favorite books with giant posters, animated stories, dioramas, and reimagined book endings, just to name a few. The students' creativity always amazes us, book after book!

Howdy ya’ll! Yesterday was Go Texan Day, a tradition in the Houston area to celebrate the launching of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. At CTL we celebrated by wearin’ our western gear, talkin’ our Texas talk, playin’ our Texas songs, dancin’ our Texas dances, and eatin’ some good ole Texas country food down the road at Mel’s Country Cafe. We all had a mighty good time!

Grades 5-11 enjoyed their field trip to NASA this week. After almost two years of virtual field trips because of COVID, it was great to once again enjoy the in-person experience, even though masks were required on the coach bus and on NASA grounds. They are looking forward to the next adventure.
