Tolleson Union High School District

Tolleson Union High School District TUHSD is committed to developing the potential of all students, staff and community. The Tolleson Union High School District was organized on January 24, 1914.

Although formed that year, the first high school class of students did not start until 1920 when, situated in a small wooden building divided into two classrooms and a small office inside Pendergast Elementary School, two teachers provided instruction. Students had the opportunity of only obtaining the first two years of a high school education. For the eleventh and twelfth grades, students attend

ed either Glendale Union High School or Phoenix Union High School. Sometime around 1927, the Maricopa County School Superintendent approved a location change of the school to Tolleson. Named Tolleson Union High School, the original district was approximately seventy square miles with 30 more miles added in 1957. Today, the District encompasses 102.5 square miles with the boundaries running to Glendale on the north, 59th Avenue on the east, Pecos Road on the south, and along the Agua Fria riverbed on the West. The Tolleson Union High School District is now home to 12,500 high school students. TUHSD has been educating high school students in the West Valley for over 100 years. Serving grades 9-12, we currently have seven high schools located all over the West Valley including Tolleson, Avondale, Glendale, and Phoenix. We also have an online high school called Tolleson Virtual High School. We are committed to providing a quality education and believe in academic achievement for all students. We accomplish this through increased rigor, engaging curriculum, blended learning, and data-driven decisions to ensure every student is challenged every day. Comprehensive Campuses:
