Mrs. Martin’s class has been learning all about matter. They have studied and identified solids, liquids, and gases. Today they did an experiment called the Dancing Raisins which involved all the properties of matter. The students really enjoyed exploring and being scientists. They each wrote a hypothesis and a conclusion about the experiment. Keep being curious 2nd graders!

🦺 SAFETY SUNDAY 🦺

It’s time for another Safety Sunday! This week, we’re focusing on something that takes all of us working together: parking lot safety. 🚗🚸

Arrival and dismissal are some of the busiest times on our campus. With cars, buses, students, bikes, scooters, and families all moving at once, a little extra awareness goes a long way!

🚗 Slow Down
Please drive slowly through our parking lots and follow all posted traffic patterns and staff directions.

👀 Stay Alert
Keep an eye out for students who may be walking between cars or entering a crosswalk. Avoid distractions while your vehicle is moving.

🚸 Expect Pedestrians
Always stop for pedestrians in designated crosswalks and give students and families plenty of time to cross safely.

📱 Heads Up, Phones Down
This one is for everyone! Drivers and pedestrians should put phones away while moving through busy arrival and dismissal areas.

🦺 Safety is a team effort. Thank you to our students, families, and staff for helping make arrival and dismissal safer for our entire school community!

🧪✨ Little Scientists at Work! 🔬

Our 2nd grade Recaforte scientists explored the properties of matter through a hands-on experiment! They tested salt, cornstarch, sand, and baking soda with two different liquids—water and vinegar—and observed how each mixture changed in texture, crystals, and appearance. 💧🧂🥣

So many predictions, observations, and “WHOA, look what happened!” moments! 👀🧪
Learning science is definitely more fun when you get to get a little messy! 🥰🔬

💻 Student Device Protection Plan — Deadline This Friday!

Families, don’t forget! This Friday is the deadline to purchase the Accidental Damage Protection Plan for your student’s district-issued laptop or iPad.

🛡️ $29 per device
💰 Provides up to $300 in damage protection
💻 A full device replacement without coverage can cost $300

The protection plan can help cover accidental damage such as:
✨ Cracked screens
💧 Liquid spills
🔌 Damaged chargers
⚡ Power surges
🔥 Fire, flood & natural disasters
🔧 Other accidental damage

Please note that the plan does not cover lost devices, lost chargers, or intentional damage.

📅 Purchase your protection plan by Friday!
After Friday, the device will need to be inspected by an IT technician before the protection plan can be approved.

📲 Families can purchase the plan through MySchoolBucks. Please see the attached flyer for purchasing information and additional details.

🦺 SAFETY SUNDAY 🦺

Welcome to our first Safety Sunday! Each Sunday, we’ll share a quick reminder to help keep our students, families, and staff safe on campus. 💛

This week, we’re talking about dismissal safety! 🚸

🛴 Walk Your Wheels
During dismissal, we ask that students walk bikes, scooters, and skateboards while on campus. With so many students and families heading home at the same time, walking helps prevent accidents and keeps our dismissal areas safe for everyone.

🚶 Cross at the Crosswalk
Students and families should always use the designated crosswalks when crossing the street or parking lot. Even when it looks clear, using the crosswalk helps drivers know where to expect pedestrians.

A few extra seconds can make a BIG difference. 💛

We had such a great time at our first Peter Piper Pizza Night of the year! 💛 It was so much fun seeing our families come together, enjoy some pizza, and make memories outside of the school day.

Tryouts for Girls Basketball, Baseball, and Cheer begin tomorrow, August 11, and run through August 14!
