Our students were shining stars yesterday at the GLOBE Student Research Symposium at The Toledo Zoo! 🌎✨
This incredible showcase of learning highlighted the research projects our students have been working on all year as they presented their findings to zoo educators, science educators, and scientists. The feedback our students received was outstanding!🌟 Reviewers especially appreciated the interactive nature of the projects, as well as the strong activism component woven throughout the work.
Our students took their learning a step further by advocating for the protection of local ecological systems, including writing letters to local authorities explaining the importance of saving and protecting prairies. 🌱
The artistic elements included in every project truly highlighted why we earned the “A” in our STEAM designation. From student photography captured during BioBlitz experiences to hand-painted pillows representing living organisms found in our prairie ecosystem, students creatively designed an interactive modified food web that beautifully blended science, art, and innovation together.
After their presentations, students enjoyed a fun afternoon exploring the zoo and seeing all of the animals out enjoying the beautiful spring weather!
We are incredibly proud of our students and the exceptional job they did presenting their research projects. Their creativity, passion, and dedication were on full display, and they represented McKinley STEAM Academy so well!🧡
