Our school, although at it's core is self-defense, also teaches Shotokan kata. Shotokan, founded by Gichin Funakoshi, is a Japanese style known for long, stretching stances and strong movements. Despite the founder's believe that competition runs contrary to the essence of karate, it has become famous for the beauty of it's forms.

Kenpo is primarily a self-defense martial art. Ed Parker, the founder of American Kenpo Karate, spent a lot of time designing and refining the original self-defense system and making it as practical as possible for the modern world.
