Shout out to Ms. Tracy, a shining star EVERY day. She makes sure our students eat food prepared to the best of her ability, greets our students by name, ensures that procedures are followed and our cafeteria environment is clean. We appreciate you, Ms. Tracy. You are an invaluable member of our OWEA family. ❤️

Mr. Bland, Senora Reamey, and I were joined by Dr. Durant at the School Choice Fair, where we met several new families that are interested in joining the OWEA family. New student applications are available on our website at oldwestendacademy.tps.org. Spaces are limited. Apply today.

Please welcome Mr. Julian, a 2013 OWEA graduate, who has committed to volunteering his time to meet the needs of our students. His rewarding experience as a student made him want to come and give back. We appreciate you, Mr. Julian.

Mrs. Barnett and I are excited to celebrate Black History Month with our fellow staff members and students. Thank you to Nurse Debbie for providing little known Black History facts for the morning announcements.

Toledo Public Schools will be closed for Tuesday, January 21 and Wednesday, January 22. Due to the extreme temperatures. All after school activities, programs, clubs, and sports will also be canceled on these days.

We hope that this advance notice will give families enough time to make necessary arrangements.

Regular school hours will resume on Thursday, January 23.
