Our preschool class at THLA had the most wonderful science experience watching our caterpillars grow into butterflies! Yesterday, we were able to set them free and watch them emerge from their cocoons. The children were amazed to see this beautiful transformation up close, and it was such a special learning moment for everyone.

Today in our preschool class at THLA, our little learners got all dressed up as bug hunters and headed outside with magnifying glasses and other bug discovery tools to explore the world around them. They were so excited to search for tiny insects, observe them up close, and use their curiosity to make discoveries in nature.
This fun hands-on experience supported early science learning, observation skills, vocabulary development, and fine motor growth, all while encouraging teamwork, wonder, and a love for the outdoors. The children had a wonderful time learning through play, and their excitement made this a truly memorable day!

Today in our preschool class, the children had so much fun tracing over numbers with Q-tips and paint, turning a simple hands-on activity into a meaningful learning experience. This engaging method helps strengthen fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and pencil control while also reinforcing number recognition, number formation, and early math confidence. Using Q-tips adds a sensory element that keeps little learners focused and excited, and the paint makes the activity playful and memorable, supporting both creativity and skill development in a way that feels like fun.

At The Toddler House Learning Academy, our little learners had a colorful day exploring sight words in the most exciting way—by creating rainbow slime! As we mixed vibrant colors together, we talked about color words, practiced naming them, and watched with wonder as new shades formed right before our eyes. This hands-on activity not only sparked creativity but also helped build early literacy skills through playful learning. There’s nothing better than combining fun, sensory play, and education to make learning truly memorable!

Through hands-on sensory play, they engaged with a variety of fun materials including a sunny yellow sun, a school bus, a soft sensory ball, and even a playful yellow lizard, sparking curiosity and early color recognition skills. Our infants enjoyed touching, observing, and interacting with these vibrant objects while building their visual tracking and sensory development in a warm and nurturing environment, filling our day with smiles and sunshine!

Today in our Preschool classroom at Toddler House Learning Academy, our students combined creativity and learning by making colorful Easter egg name puzzles. Each child’s name was written one letter at a time on zigzag construction paper pieces, which they then matched together to form a complete egg. This hands-on activity helped strengthen name recognition, letter identification, and sequencing skills in a fun and engaging way.
As they worked, children also practiced problem-solving and fine motor skills while fitting the pieces together, along with exploring colors and patterns through their designs. Activities like this build confidence, support early literacy, and make learning both meaningful and exciting for our preschoolers.

Our preschoolers at The Toddler House Learning Academy had so much fun celebrating the spirit of the season with a creative shamrock project! A few days ago, they decorated their shamrocks using different sizes of green pom-poms, exploring textures and practicing their fine motor skills as they carefully picked up and glued each piece. Today, they brought their creations to life by adding colorful strips of paper to represent a rainbow flowing from their shamrocks!
This hands-on activity did more than spark creativity—it also supported important early learning skills. Children practiced color recognition, strengthened hand-eye coordination, and developed patience and focus while completing each step of the project. Activities like this encourage imagination, build confidence, and help our little learners express themselves while having fun together!

Today we learned about Augustus Jackson, an African American entrepreneur known as the “Father of Ice Cream,” who helped improve ice cream recipes and manufacturing methods in the 1800s. Students explored how his creativity and business skills made a lasting impact, and we talked about how innovation and determination can turn a simple idea into something successful.
After our lesson, we created our very own ice cream shops. Students designed shop names, invented unique flavors, created menus, and practiced basic business skills while using their imagination. It was a fun, hands-on way to connect history with creativity and entrepreneurship, and our young business owners did an amazing job.
