What does a pushy vs a whippy arm action look like? The top video my elbow drives to the target well past my center line all the way to almost past my front knee. You’ll notice my chest and head continuing forward too long to establish a whip. The bottom video my elbow stops moving forward in sequence and my arm can unwind on plane. You’ll notice my head and chest stop moving forward at a certain point to establish the whip so I can transfer energy into the next part of the sequence. What is interesting is you can see the ball getting out quicker in the whippy video vs holding on to the ball longer in an effort to hit my target on the top. The problem with a pushy arm is it can lead to a loss of velocity, movement, health, and command. The improvement here came from a thought I saw Dodgers pitcher Yamamoto mention about “not using his elbow” when he was trying to overcome elbow pain. #makemymechanicsgreatagain #throwing #mechanics #velocity #baseball
