Meet Akhil Aitha, Class of 2025. Following graduation, Aitha hopes to pursue a medical degree and eventually open his own private practice in psychiatry or neurology.

"I learned about the many hands-on skills required in a lab setting. Through writing my grant proposal, I also learned how to read through scientific literature. But the most important thing that I have learned is that, it always seems impossible until it's done. " Aitha shares.

Meet Shereen Yassine, another one of UToledo's undergraduate researchers! Following graduation, Shereen hopes to continue research and pursue medical school. "Making mistakes and experiencing setbacks are part of the process and are helpful contributions because you learn what works and what does not work." -Shereen Yassine, Class of 2025.

Meet Evan Roebke. Upon graduation, Evan plans to pursue a masters degree in bioengineering and open his own research lab.

"This research was very interesting to me as it has a special relevance to my dad. When I was younger, my father had lower back pain that robbed him of freedom of movement. This meant that he would often spend time trying to find relief from his back pain instead of doing the many things that he enjoyed doing including playing basketball, throwing the baseball around, and wrestling me and my brothers. This research project helps to contribute towards spine research and hopefully improved treatment options." -Evan Roebke, UToledo Class of 2025
