The University of Toledo Research & Innovation Research & Innovation provides administration and support to UToledo faculty.

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) provides research administration and support to UT faculty, staff and students involved in sponsored research and scholarly activities. RSP provides proposal and budget development assistance, tools to identify funding sources, professional development, research administration, regulatory compliance management and contract management support.

Dr. Jiyung Hwang, Assistant Professor of Special Education, has received second-year funding for Project READ-DBI (Responsive & Equitable Advancement in Literacy through Data-Based Individualization). The project is supported by an incentive grant from the University of Cincinnati Systems Development & Improvement Center through the Ohio Deans Compact on Exceptional Children.

Dr. Hwang leads the project with Co-PI Dr. Susanna E. Hapgood, Professor of Literacy Education. Dr. Michael D. Toland and Dr. David M. Dueber of The Herb Innovation Center serve as project evaluators.

Dr. Michael C. Young, Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and Director of the School of Green Chemistry and Engineering, has received an R35 award from National Institute of General Medical Sciences. The funding supports the project titled: “Dynamic Covalent Strategies for the Remote C–H Functionalization of Alkaloids." Dr. Young and team will be developing new synthetic tools, with the goal of developing safer opioid therapeutics for pain management.
