We are thrilled to welcome violin faculty member Alexandria Ott back this fall!
Alexandria Ott completed her education at the Eastman School of Music and the University of Michigan where she studied with Reneรฉ Jolles and Aaron Berofsky. At Eastman she served as concertmaster of the Eastman Philharmonia and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a performer's certificate in Historical Performance Practice. At the University of Michigan she received a dual degree in Violin Performance and Chamber Music.
Alexandria is a founding member of two unique groups: the Kenaniah Project (KP) and the Dankgesang Quartet (DQ). KP is an eclectic folk, jazz, and classical fusion group that performs classic repertoire, unique arrangements, and originals from a blend of musical genres. DQ is a string quartet dedicated to creative concerts, music marathons, and unusually curated projects. Some of her past chamber music engagements have included Eastman Honors Chamber Music, the Rochester Early Music Festival, the Eastman Saturday Morning Chamber Music series, and the Holocaust Remembrance series. She has also coached with the Takacs, Danish, Pacifica, and Shanghai string quartets.
Additional opportunities include summers at the prestigious Tanglewood Music Center, where she worked with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and maestro Andris Nelsons, and Music Academy of the West, where she worked closely with the Takacs Quartet. Other summer festivals include the National Orchestral Institute, the Chautauqua Music School Festival Orchestra, and the Bowdoin International Music Festival. Competitions she has won include Cordancia Concerto Competition and Rochester Philharmonic Leagueโs Ruth and Sidney Salzman Prize for Strings. She is grateful for additional study and masterclass performances with Ida Kavafian, Noah Bendix-Balgley, Kathy Winkler, Jorja Fleezanis, Carmine Lauri, Juliana Athayde, and Rachel Barton Pine.
