In observance of the holiday, The University of Toledo will be closed on Friday, June 19.

🔬🐣 Summer research in action!

A big shoutout to talented undergraduate researchers Baran Ghaffari and Kennedy Eckman, who are spending their summer in the lab of Guofa Liu gaining hands-on experience in developmental neurobiology.

Working alongside graduate student mentor Harindi Suriyaarachchi, Baran and Kennedy are helping prepare chicken embryos for electroporation experiments aimed at understanding the molecular cues that guide neuronal axon growth during development. These studies help researchers uncover how neurons find their correct targets as the nervous system forms.

From preparing embryos to learning advanced research techniques, these students are making valuable contributions while building skills that will serve them well in their future scientific careers.

We are excited to see what they discover this summer! 🧠⚡🔬

Exciting news! Trader Joe's is coming to Toledo!

The popular grocery chain was announced on Wednesday as one of the anchor tenants for the redevelopment of Westgate Plaza, just across the street from the Costco near the University.

Also coming to the same development: Mission BBQ, Smoothie King, Golf Galaxy, Dick's House of Sport, Sierra Trading Post and Nordstrom Rack.

Congratulations to Trupti Devale on successfully defending her PhD! 🎉🎓

Trupti completed her doctoral research under the mentorship of Dr. Malathi Krishnamurthy, demonstrating tremendous dedication, resilience, and scientific excellence throughout her graduate training.

We are also excited to celebrate her next step as she begins her postdoctoral training at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. This is an outstanding achievement and a testament to all of her hard work and accomplishments.
