Can I get an AMEN?
It seems to me that as Christian homeschooling parents, we should be far less stressed out about our kids' education than someone who is not a Believer. After all, we have access to the Creator of the universe who made our kids and that same Creator promises to give wisdom to those who seek Him (James 1).
I talk to Christian moms who are definitely in tune with the truths I just mentioned, but I also hear from far more Christian moms who are filled with fear and trepidation over their home education.
I want to give them a big hug, because I get it. I do understand. As moms we love our kids and want to do right by them, but where is our faith in all of this?
God knows our name. He looks with favor on us. This is evidenced all over scripture.
God told Moses the same thing in Exodus 33:13. Moses' response was this: "If it is true that you look favorably on me, let me know your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favor...." Moses wasn't settling for just knowing that God looked with favor on him. He wanted to LIVE it, to experience it, to walk in it.
The Lord replied, "I will personally go with you, Moses, and I will give you rest-everything will be fine for you." (v. 14)
Again Moses replied(v. 15,16), "If you don't personally go with us, don't make us leave this place. How will anyone know that you look favorably on me-on me and on your people-if you don't go with us? For your presence among us SETS YOUR PEOPLE AND ME APART FROM ALL OTHER PEOPLE ON THE EARTH."(Emphasis mine)
Can others see that we are different? That we have a peace in our lives, including our homeschooling, that sets us apart? This isn't meant to make you feel more pressure, but to help you see that you are FREE!
Are we bringing our days before God and like Moses, saying that we don't want to move forward without His presence?
Peace comes when we are experiencing God...when we aren't running ahead or lagging behind, but keeping in step with what HE is doing, dwelling in HIS presence and resting in HIS peace.
