St. Francis de Sales School remembers the life of Tom LaPointe '64, who passed away March 27.

In addition to being class valedictorian and an SFS parent, Tom was a devoted, lifelong volunteer at St. Francis. As a member of the Knights of the Roundtable, Tom's roles over the decades included working as a ticket taker, scorekeeper, and on the football chain crew. He logged countless hours serving the school.

Tom cited attending the first St. Francis vs. Central football game in 1959 as inspiring his love of the Knights. In time, Tom became a legend at school for his signature double peace sign gestures during varsity basketball games after a player would make a three-point shot. He was known for traveling long hours to away games to see the Knights. His enthusiasm was so notable that, a few years ago, the student council renamed the pep squad at St. Francis "the Pointemen" in his honor.

A Mass of Remembrance will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, at Gesu Catholic Church, with doors opening one hour prior for a visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the St. Francis de Sales High School Foundation.

You never know where you'll find SFS graduates...

Dan Schuller '86 and Dick Schuller '61 recently attended a Confirmation Mass celebrated by the Most Rev. Earl Fernandes '90, Bishop of Columbus.

Thanks to Amy Schuller Nolan for sending the photo of her dad, brother, and bishop... and congratulations to her daughter Alexa on her Confirmation!

Go, Go, Go, Joe!

Tonight, two alumni from SFS's 2002 Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat stopped by Spring Break Week rehearsals to share words of wisdom for the 2026 Joseph cast.

Matt Knaggs '02 played Joseph in 2002, and he remembered how Joseph was a cornerstone of his high school experience.

"My now-wife was in the audience," Knaggs said. "The songs that I learned here were my children's lullabies."

"It gave me the confidence to grow into the person I am today," he said. "At no other time in my high school experience did I feel more like I could 'Be who I am and be that well' than in the musical."

Very Rev. Joe Newman, OSFS '03, played Joseph's brother Gad in the 2002 show. He offered the cast a blessing during rehearsal.
