A special thank you to Mr. Craig from Vintage the Collection Sneaker Masterclass for spending time with our students during Career Day last month!

Mr. Craig brought creativity and real-world lessons together, showing both students and adults that passion can turn into purpose. Through his Sneaker Masterclass, participants explored:

👟 The art of sneaker design and customization
🎨 How creativity can become a career path
💼 The importance of discipline, focus, and hard work
🌟 Life principles like perseverance, confidence, and self-expression

One of the most powerful takeaways was seeing how creativity can open doors—while also learning the values needed to walk through them.

Experiences like this reminds our scholars that their talents matter and can grow into something meaningful. Some of the students even seen him on tv and all that he does in the community and wanted his autograph.

A special thank you to Mr. Larry with the Josh Project for taking the time to speak with our students during Career Day last Friday!

As part of National Water Safety Month, The Josh Project had the privilege of participating in Career Day with Kindergarten through 2nd grade students at Bennett Venture Academy, where the Executive Director, Lawrence D. Butts Jr., spent time teaching students about water safety and drowning prevention as we prepare for the summer season.

Through hands-on demonstrations and interactive discussions, students learned about:

🛟 The importance of life jackets and when to wear them
👀 Why active adult supervision matters around water
🌊 Why we should never swim alone
🎨 The importance of wearing bright-colored swimwear for visibility in the water
✅ How to properly fit and wear a life jacket, even if an adult may not know how

One of the most impactful moments of the day came when students were asked:

“Who knows how to swim?”

Nearly every hand in the classroom went up.

However, through conversation, it became clear that many children confuse being comfortable in water with actually knowing how to swim. While many felt confident, only a small number truly demonstrated an understanding of what it means to safely swim independently.

As summer approaches, conversations like these matter. The lessons shared with our students have the potential to save lives tomorrow.

💦🌊 Miss Danielle had an amazing time connecting with families at the Splash into Safety community event this weekend hosted by The Josh Project!

Bennett Venture Academy were proud to host a community partner table focused on engaging families, sharing resources, and supporting water safety awareness throughout our community. 💙

From fun giveaways and family activities to important conversations around safety and education, it was a great day filled with connection, learning, and community partnership.
