This Labor Day Weekend, We Celebrate the Village

Raising and educating children takes a village—and there’s a lot of important work happening inside that village every single day.

This Labor Day, Learning Ladder celebrates the people whose work helps our little learners grow and thrive:

🍎 Teachers who educate, encourage, and nurture.
📋 Administrators who keep our programs running smoothly.
🥗 Cooks and food service staff who help keep growing bodies nourished.
🤝 Support staff who step in wherever they’re needed.
💛 Parents and caregivers who are children’s first teachers and biggest advocates.

Some of this work happens in the classroom. Some happens behind the scenes. And a whole lot of it happens at home!

Every lesson taught, meal prepared, tear wiped, question answered, backpack packed, and encouraging word spoken helps build the foundation children need for their future.

This long Labor Day Weekend, we celebrate the entire village. Thank you for the work you do to help children learn, grow, feel safe, and know they are loved.

Your Preschooler Isn’t Too Young for the Library!

A library card can open a whole new world for your little learner—and you don’t have to wait until kindergarten to get started!

Library visits help young children develop a love of books, build vocabulary, practice independence, and discover that learning can be FUN.

Make the library part of your family routine:

📖 Let them choose their own books—even if they pick the same favorite again and again!
🧸 Attend story time and enjoy books, songs, and new friends.
🎨 Explore children’s activities and special programs.
📅 Create a weekly library routine your child can look forward to.
📚 Let them borrow AND return their books. That little bit of responsibility can feel like a very big deal to a preschooler!

Welcome to September! Let's Talk About Consistency and Predictability

Young children thrive when they know what comes next. Predictable routines for arrival, meals, learning, play, rest, and pickup help little learners feel safe and secure throughout their day.

As children become familiar with these routines, something wonderful happens—they begin doing more for themselves! They learn when to put belongings away, prepare for meals, clean up after play, transition between activities, and get ready to go home.

At Learning Ladder, routines aren't just about keeping the day organized. They're helping children build confidence, independence, and skills they'll carry into kindergarten and beyond.

August is National Family Fun Month!

Between work, school, appointments, activities, and everything else on the family calendar, sometimes having fun together needs to become part of the plan!

National Family Fun Month is a great reminder that quality family time isn't just enjoyable—it helps children grow.

Spending intentional time together can help children build confidence, strengthen emotional bonds, improve communication, create lasting memories, and even encourage better behavior. When children regularly experience positive attention and connection with the people they love, they develop a stronger sense of belonging and security.

And family fun doesn't have to cost a lot of money! Try a few simple ideas:

🌳 Pack snacks and visit a local park
📚 Have a family reading night
🎵 Turn up the music and have a living-room dance party
🍕 Make homemade pizzas together
🎲 Pull out the cards, puzzles, or board games
🚶🏾 Take an evening walk and let the kids choose the route
🎨 Grab paper and crayons for family art night
💦 Have a backyard water day
🍿 Build a blanket fort and have a movie night
📸 Take a family “adventure day” around your own neighborhood
