At TPS we have some wonderful people on staff that were also students at our schools and we are proud to share a bit about their stories.

Ashley - Burroughs, Byrnedale, Bowsher. Graduated in 2003.

My moment: One of my proudest moments as a school nurse came when a student shared that she feels safe coming to school because she knows I’m here and she can always come talk to me. Hearing that reminded me how much emotional safety and trust matter in a child’s day. It reinforced that nursing in the school setting is about far more than just physical health, it is about being a steady, caring presence students can depend on. Moments like that remind me why I love what I do.

I served in the United States Air Force for 5.5 years as a Nurse from 2019-2024. I worked in the Emergency Department and Neonatal ICU. After the Air Force, I interviewed for TPS as a daily sub. I was able to take a couple of LTS positions and now I am Full Time at Robinson Elementary.

My moment: Becoming the Head tennis coach for Scott High School! Becoming Coach of the year for winning the tennis championship for Scott in 2024!

Attending Scott High was such an amazing time in my life. All the African American teachers who loved teaching and interacting with their students was such an awesome space and time to be in. Teachers showing love and concern for your well being and also holding you accountable educationally MADE me WANT to go to school everyday.

My moment: is everyday, since I get to teach with my amazing teaching partner, Joie Stevenson, who also graduated from Bowsher, 2002. We have been teaching together for 10 years at Byrnedale K8 Elementary -which we both attended as well, when it was a Junior High.....just a few years between us!
