This immersive experience puts YOU at the center of the action as you investigate environmental issues, collect data, analyze evidence and develop solutions that could shape the future!

Dr. Donghui Zhao, Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, has received two additional awards from the Northwest Ohio Innovation Consortium. The funding supports the projects titled: “Surface Engineering for Weathering Resistance and Chemical Durability of Soda-Lime-Silicate Container” and "Chemical Strengthening of Soda-Lime-Silicate Glass for Container Lightweighting." Congratulations!

Congratulations to Dr. Nik Podraza on being named Interim Dean of The University of Toledo College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (NSM)! 🚀🔬

A nationally recognized researcher, educator, mentor and proud UToledo alumnus, Dr. Podraza has built an impressive career and earned recognition for his research in advanced materials, renewable energy technologies and semiconductor characterization. Since joining the faculty in 2011, UToledo Physics and Astronomy, he has helped strengthen UToledo's research enterprise, secured significant external funding and inspired countless students through teaching and mentorship.

Most recently, Dr. Podraza served as principal investigator on a $39 million federally funded initiative to expand nuclear workforce training and education programs, further demonstrating his commitment to innovation and workforce development.

Intern Spotlight: Evan, Spring 2026 ✨

With his internship coming to an end, we wanted to take a moment to highlight one of our hardest working interns: Evan! During his time with us, he collected and cleaned THOUSANDS of seeds, installed various native gardens both on and off site, and, most importantly, made us smile along the way. 💚

Pictured here with his very own native garden on the nursery property, designed and installed completely by Evan, we can confidently say that he is walking away with invaluable knowledge on the importance of native plants in our environment and how to implement them. 🌎
