Yesterday was our Museum Walk! Students had been working on Olympic-themed informative projects and were able to present to grades 3-5 in a gallery style format! I was so proud of them and all the compliments they received for their presentation skills and their overall projects! Now it’s onto the next big thing!

Seriously! Some of these winter Olympic ramps and courses are beyond impressive! They are testing either speed or distance for their skier, snowboarder, luge athlete, or bobsled.

Their Olympic STEM projects are awesome! They were tasked with creating a ramp or course for either skiing, snowboarding, bobsled, or the luge. They had to collect data on speed or distance! I can’t wait to post the other class’s projects! So creative!

After reading about a specific topic related to the Winter Olympics, students were grouped for a jigsaw activity. They had to teach their group about their topic. It was a great way to make them feel responsible for their learning and their classmates learning. Tomorrow we work on the STEM portion of the project!

Today we started our big Olympic informative writing project with some learning activities. We worked on chain notes and then students became experts on one aspect of the Olympics. They will teach their fellow classmates tomorrow with a jigsaw activity!

Today was our Writer’s Cafe! The classroom was transformed into a cafe where students shared their personal narrative essays in small groups. It was a wonderful way to share their hard work without feeling overwhelmed or intimidated. It was a lovely day.
