🔬 FALL 2026 HOMESCHOOL SCIENCE DAYS ARE COMING! 🧪

Registration opens Monday, August 10, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.

Join the Clemson University Science Outreach Center for a fall filled with hands-on discovery, creative challenges, and exciting STEM investigations! Each program date offers two lab options—please register for only one lab per student per day.

New this semester: We’re offering four labs each month (except August), plus a special lab for students ages 13–16!

Oct. 7: Gummy Bear Parachutes | Chemistry: Colorful Quest (ages 13–16)
Oct. 20: Autumn Science Lab | Rainwater + Tower Design
Nov. 4: Air Pressure and Flight | Bird Beak Adaptations
Nov. 17: Wacky Food Senses | LEGO Day
Dec. 2: DNA: Traits & Fingerprinting | Vet for a Day 1
Dec. 15: Jingle Bell Science | Compressed-Air Rockets

Look up! — The Perseids start tonight. ☄️

From tonight, July 19 to August 24, the Perseids meteor shower will light up the night sky.

While the spectacular peak won't hit until mid-August, you can start spotting early shooting stars streaking across the night sky starting this week.

During the peak, expect up to 100 meteors per hour under dark skies.

⏰ Best viewing: After midnight and into the pre-dawn hours
📍 Where to look: Look toward the northeastern horizon near the constellation Perseus, but they can streak across any part of the sky

Find a dark spot, give your eyes 20–30 minutes to adjust, and enjoy.

Meet our amazing critters in their habitats! Ask the experts all about terrestrial arthropods!

The UGA Insect Zoo houses a variety of arthropods from around the world. The UGA Entomology department teamed up with students from the Scientific Illustration program in the School of Art to create installations as part of the newly renovated Insect Zoo. The dynamic space helps to educate and inspire visitors from as diverse of backgrounds as the bugs that are modeled.
