We are so proud of each and every one of our students who attended and competed at the 2026 SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference this weekend. Congratulations to Kasie Moore for placing 3rd in Screen Printing Technology and Lizzie Lane for earning 3rd place in Communication Skills. Our Opening and Closing Ceremonies team is bringing home gold and will advance to the National Conference in June. All of these students have represented SCHS CTAE with great pride this weekend, and we are so proud of their determination!

Congratulations Logan!

As high school graduation at Stephens County High School in Toccoa approached in May, Logan was uncertain about his plans for the future. He knew he didn’t want to follow the traditional college route but wanted a career that would allow him to earn a good income and build a stable future. Searching for alternatives, he decided to enroll in the two-week Manufacturing Challenge offered through North Georgia Technical College. The training provided the foundational skills necessary to succeed in a modern manufacturing environment, including Forklift Operation, Precision Measuring Certification, CPR/First Aid, Manufacturing Safety, Work Readiness, Interview and Resumé Skills, and tours of local manufacturing facilities.
After successfully completing the program, Logan was given the opportunity to interview with four of the employers he had met during the tours. Ultimately, he accepted a position with our partner GM Wood Products of Georgia and began working in July as a Molder, earning $17 per hour. He is enjoying his new role and is excited about the opportunities for growth and advancement in the manufacturing industry.
“The program helped me get a solid job and feel like I’m actually starting my life as an adult,” Logan said.

This year at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, our Stephens County FFA President, Arwen Bratten, will be representing both Stephens County FFA and the Georgia FFA Association as a National FFA Delegate! She will get to work with other FFA members from around the Nation, demonstrate Georgia's deep connection with agriculture, and help make decisions to further the growth of the National FFA! We are so proud of her accomplishment and know she is going to do a fantastic job!

Together, these young men and women worked a combined 2,939 hours and earned a total of $47,030. Their contributions had a real and positive impact on the ASI Southeast operations, and they represented their schools and this community with maturity, drive, and professionalism.

From Classroom to Career: Avery McClain 🎓➡️💼

From a classroom in Toccoa to the production floors of a high-tech manufacturing facility in Germany, SCHS graduate Avery McClain is making the most of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity through Haering Precision USA LP’s International Training Program.

Avery’s journey began when she received an email from Mrs. Blasingame about an Open House at Haering. She attended and learned about the company’s training program, a three-year international apprenticeship based in Bubsheim, Germany. After submitting her resume and completing her interviews, Avery was accepted in January and moved to Germany in August.

“Work-Based Learning helped me see what career paths were out there and gave me the confidence to apply,” Avery says.

Her first six months in Germany were spent learning manual machining and building her German grammar and vocabulary skills she’ll need for year two, where she’ll attend school in German and continue hands-on training.

Now, she’s rotating through departments in the manufacturing facility, gaining experience and figuring out where she fits best. “It’s definitely hard to move away from everything you know,” she says, “but it’s worth it.”

Avery encourages other students to consider this path: “It’s an amazing opportunity to live in a new culture, travel Europe, and come back with no student debt and a great job.”
