A huge thank you to our School Committee, Building Committee and Town Council for supporting this incredible improvement to the Tiverton High School gymnasium floor through Town gaming revenue funding.

This investment enhances a space that serves our student-athletes, physical education classes, and the entire community for years to come. The refinished floor looks outstanding, and we can’t wait to see it in action.

We are incredibly proud of our Tiverton Middle School students who represented Rhode Island at the National History Day National Contest at the University of Maryland. Our students attended the welcome ceremony, presented their projects to national judges, and toured Washington, D.C. landmarks. A major highlight was meeting with Rhode Island's Congressmen, Senators Sheldon Whitehouse and Jack Reed, right on the Capitol steps! They wrapped up the trip at the awards ceremony. Although our students didn't take home medals, they returned with an unforgettable NHD experience!

Please join us in applauding Tiverton Middle School 8th grader Jackson Pepler and 6th grader Ethan Cordeiro! On Tuesday, June 16, Jackson and Ethan became the very first TMS students to qualify for and compete in the Rhode Island National Civics Bee! To reach the live state finals, both boys first had to submit a comprehensive essay identifying a community issue and proposing a civic solution. Out of all the 2026 essay submissions across Rhode Island, Jackson and Ethan were specially selected as state finalists. The prestigious event featured introductory remarks by Stephen Lombardi, Executive Director of the East Greenwich Chamber of Commerce, and guest speaker RI Secretary of State Gregg Amore. The competition was evaluated by an esteemed panel of judges. Jackson and Ethan took the stage and competed fiercely in the first two rounds of the live finals, which contained challenging multiple-choice questions testing deep civics knowledge. They represented Tiverton with incredible poise, sharp intelligence, and absolute tiger pride. We are so proud of their hard work and civic leadership.

My America 2026 Project

Many of our TMS students recently participated in the My America 2026 project, a massive national youth art and civics initiative designed to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary by building a giant flag mosaic. Working alongside over 1,500 schools and classrooms across all 50 states and 5 territories, students contributed to a nationwide collection that already features more than 98,000 fabric tiles. We are thrilled to announce that two Rhode Island entries from Mrs. Costa's 6th grade classes, created by Aubrey Rachupka and Sasha Joy, have been officially selected to be included in the national campaign! The completed flag will be displayed in Boston, MA, later this year.

6th Grade Field Trip

The sixth graders at Tiverton Middle School recently participated in a tour of historic Newport. This walking tour contained historically significant sites explained by well-informed guides from the Newport Historical Society. Students also attended a reading of the Declaration of Independence outside the Colony House, as was done in 1776.

Tiverton Middle School 6th graders participated in the Tiverton Celebrates Parade this past weekend. Dressed in spectacular Revolutionary-era attire, students proudly marched behind their β€˜1776–2026’ banner to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary. Their enthusiasm was on full display as they walked the parade route down Main Rd and distributed American flags to the spectators, including several Veterans in the crowd. Thanks to all who participated!
