Nervous about starting homeschooling? Just start. It doesn’t have to be “perfect”. Just start with one subject. One intentional discussion. Baby steps will get you where you want to go… just one day at a time!
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” Matthew 6:26.

PSA: Some other random pieces of advice as you get started on your homeschool journey…

You can change your mind along the way. 🇺🇸

You can change your curriculum. 📚
( If a math book isn’t a “good match” after several weeks, you might want to change what you’re using)

You can decide on a daily basis what learning goes on in your household. 🦎
( We used seasonal holidays, feast days, family events, favorite books, a recently caught lizard, and more to adapt and adjust what was taught-besides core subjects)

⏰You can change the hours your children study. ( We realized that morning physical play outside-bike ride, trampoline, swim, etc helped us get the wiggles out- Many mornings we started “book-work” at 9:30-10am)

You can change the location of where you “do school” (Some of our kids liked a soft couch; others liked the kitchen table, the floor, or even their bed!)

You can offer “rewards or incentives” if you choose! (We loved studying AT the park… we would set a timer or have number of pages goal.. and then they could play for awhile.)

Of course last minute field trips and learning experiences often took priority too! 🐠🪐🌎

Here’s a suggestion for a NO stress start for the homeschool year.
Sit down with your kids.
Let them talk and plan with you.
Are there any special places they would like to go?
Is there a class or skill they would like to learn?
Are there relatives you want to visit? Any special occasions in the future?
Is there a business they would like to start?
Is there a goal they want to work towards?
How much physical activity will be a part of your day? What types?
Spiritual activities? Cooking? Household Chores- weekly or daily? Music? Therapy?
Start with those on your planner.
Then discuss how/what sacrifices may need to be made to finance their dreams and ideas.
This is real learning.
This is real planning.
Academics can be a part of your day too.
You’ll have more “buy in” when your children are a part of the process! Florida Choice Navigator ♥️
