📢🚨BREAKING NEWS: Astronaut Lands Coach Wyllie!!! 🏀🚀

Astronaut High School is incredibly excited to introduce our Head Boys Basketball Coach Casey Wyllie! Coach Wyllie arrives with a reputation as a builder of programs, a developer of young men, and a coach whose experience stretches across every major level of competitive basketball. His career began in Illinois and carried him through NCAA Division I, NJCAA Division I, and high‑level high school basketball, shaping him into a leader who understands how to elevate athletes on and off the court. From his early years at Louisiana Tech and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he supported scouting, recruiting, and player development at the Division I level, to his rise as Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Olney Central College, Wyllie has consistently produced teams that compete with discipline and purpose. At Olney, he guided the program to wins over nationally ranked opponents, coached a 2nd Team All‑American and Region 24 Co‑Player of the Year, and led his teams to some of the highest GPAs in NJCAA Division I, producing eight Academic All‑Americans along the way.

His connection to the Space Coast runs even deeper through his time at Eastern Florida State College, where he served as an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach. There, he helped guide EFSC to a 27–5 record, a Region 8 Citrus Co‑Conference Championship, and the development of the NJCAA Division I Player of the Year. His most recent role at Orangewood Christian School continued that trajectory of success, contributing to a 20‑win season, the second most in school history, and a 2A District 4 Region Runner‑Up finish while mentoring multiple All‑District players. Throughout every stop, Wyllie has been known for his integrity, his passion for teaching the game the right way, and his ability to build relationships that create real opportunities for student‑athletes at the next level.

Now, as he steps into the role of Head Boys’ Basketball Coach at Astronaut High School, Coach Wyllie brings a championship‑minded approach rooted in discipline, accountability, and a clear vision for elevating War Eagle Basketball. He is launching a comprehensive Summer Basketball Program immediately, setting the tone for a new era defined by energy, structure, and a commitment to excellence. Coach Wyllie is eager to become part of the Astronaut community and to build a program that reflects the values he has carried throughout his career.

We are thrilled to welcome Coach Wyllie, his wife Taylor, and his daughter Lucy to the War Eagle family! We cannot wait to see the impact he will make on our athletes, our school, and our community!

Summer School and Summer Hours:

Summer School begins tomorrow, June 1st, at 8:30am! Summer School will run Monday through Thursday throughout the month of June from 8:30am – 3:30pm.

If your student has failed a core academic course during this past school year or at any point during high school, it is extremely important that they attend Summer School. This provides a structured, on-campus environment from our teachers for credit recovery and an excellent opportunity for students to get back on track toward graduation.

Students entering 11th–12th grade (Class of 2027 and 2028) will complete courses through the Brevard Virtual School platform, with course pacing modified to allow for a quicker credit recovery timeline. When students successfully complete a recovered course with a C or higher, the failing grade (F) is excluded from GPA calculations on the transcript. This Credit Retrieval version is only offered on campus for Summer School. Students entering 10th grade (Class of 2029) will use the traditional Brevard Virtual School platform in a structured school environment with our certified teachers. This is the best opportunity for students to recover credits, stay on track, and work toward graduation success. Please do not miss this important on-campus opportunity beginning tomorrow at 8:30am.

AHS Summer office hours begin tomorrow for the months of June and July. Office hours will be Monday through Thursday from 8:00am – 4:00pm.

🎉 It is officially SUMMER BREAK!!! ☀️😎

Astronaut Front Office will be open this week Tuesday–Friday, 7:15am–3:45pm. 🏫 Beginning Monday, June 1st, office hours will be 8:00am–4:00pm, Monday–Thursday.

📚 Summer School will begin Monday, June 1st through Thursday, June 25th. Summer School is offered for students who need to recover credits due to F’s in core academic classes. Summer School will run Monday–Thursday during the month of June. ⏰ Summer School hours are 8:30am–3:30pm, with FREE breakfast and lunch provided! 🍎🥪

Students’ families have been notified via FOCUS email regarding Summer School status and transportation sign-up information if needed. 📧 We will also be making additional phone calls later this week once 2nd semester grades are posted. 📞 If you have any questions, please contact the Front Office at 321-264-3000.
