This month seeks to raise awareness and celebrate people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families and caregivers, throughout New Jersey.

An IEP is only as strong as the data behind it.

Vague statements like “making progress” don’t tell you much.

Meaningful data answers questions like:
📈How much progress?
📈Compared to what?
📈Over what period of time?

As a parent, you have every right to ask for clarity. Asking for evidence of progress isnt about being difficult—it’s about being informed. So you can fully participate in decision-making.

This is one of your parental rights under IDEA.
You’re simply asking educators to do what is legally required and share it with you.

And yet…

Many, many, many parents in NJ struggle to obtain meaningful IEP progress monitoring data. I see it all the time, throughout the state.

Keep asking for it.
Don’t give up.
