Samira is a graduating senior and has worked incredibly hard on her art over the years. A wonderful and well-deserved recognition as she gets ready to spread her wings!

Come hang out with returning instructor Bennett Vadnais as he shares recent work and talks through his process and techniques. All are welcome!
Bennett is also launching a new Tuesday night class (5:30–8:30 PM, starting in May) — open to all skill levels. Learn a versatile, traditional approach to painting: from composition and tonal underpainting to rich layers of color and texture, with techniques like glazing, dry brush, scumbling, and more — across watercolor, acrylic, gouache, and beyond.
Sunday’s event is the perfect chance to ask questions and see if it’s the right fit for you. See you there! ✨

New Class!!!
Bennett Vadnais returns to Zoll Studio to teach "Painting in Layers"
Tuesday's 5:30pm - 8:30pm

In this class students will learn a traditional yet versatile method of painting. With an emphasis on developing drawing skills, students will first learn how to compose and map out their composition. This is followed by creating a tonal underpainting that serves the later application of various layers of color. By utilizing multiple paint layers, students will be able to create a variety of color and textural effects using a limited palette. Techniques such as glazing, scumbling, dry brush, hatching, and stippling will be covered in depth. These techniques are particularly suited to water-based media such as egg tempera, gouache, acrylic and watercolor but can be easily modified for oil painting. While Vadnais’ work is very detailed and realistic, his methods and techniques are useful for any style of painting. His goal is to provide students with a strong and varied tool kit that can be adapted to suit the vision of each individual. All skill levels are welcome. Preliminary training in drawing is recommended but not required.
