Metamorphosis In Wool I am a certified felting arts teacher I teach any level in dry needle felting critters/human form, wool paintings 2D and 21/2D from beginner to advanced.

My specialty is in the details,eyes, faces, hands and feet, outfitting, armatures, troubleshooting.

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. My schedule has been jammed. I finally finished the ACC Fellowship entry. That took some doing. It probably wouldn't have taken very long if I had better computer skills.
Mother Earth is so close to be being done! But what I need to get her there is nice weather! It has either been to cold or to wet outside to finish it.
Plus there is the holiday stuck in there!
I can't forget about spring clean up...
It always seems like I am running against the clock.

Finishing the painting for all the pieces and parts for hopefully will be a big garbage pile. I have several scenarios in my head of how to put it together🤔?
I will work on that the next couple of days. I did manage to get a lot of the last details on Mother Earths heads and arms. The end is near!!

At least 12hrs. Of work to put the last coat of merino wool on at the bottom of Mother Earth. I felt it would be easier to put the color on now then to try and work around all the junk that will go on.
It's all a big experiment. Feeling a little relieved that the felting part is done💆‍♀️!!

This has been at least 6hrs. Of figuring out and positioning Mother Earth and she needed something for form besides just core wool. I used pieces of packing foam to fill the bottom half. I felted on a cover of white chunky core. A whole pound and a half. I can't imagine how much it would have taken if I would have only used core😱??

Tomorrow I will add color to her legs and hopefully get to start another base covering of color.
Still tons to do but I am chipping away at it.
What's your largest felt? What would you have done differently?

Feels like an eternity! It has been a journey from the heart. I have found myself having to stop and completely put her out of site for a few days at a time, in order to keep my sanity. I am sure you will understand when you see her finished.
So, when you have a million and one things going on a list and get the biggest and one of the most important pieces in place. I know it doesn't look like much but it is the stanchion from which all other pieces and parts connect.
I believe I shall have Mother Earth finished by the end of next week. Lots of pictures will come forth once She is connected. Hopefully I will get that accomplished tonight.
Thank you for being patient with the amount of time it is taking.

Feeling much better and back to felting. Here is the latest on Mother Earth.

Arms are wrapped in core wool then covered with scraps of wet felted pieces. Hands are made a little large for gripping.

First face reveal with lots still to do.
Please tell me what you see and feel.

I so wanted to be able to show progress on Mother Earth but
I have been knocked down with a UTI.
I have never been this sick with one!
I do believe I am finally on the mend.
At least I can sit in my studio and be hopeful... maybe Tomorrow will be the day I can find the energy enough to felt.

Spring arrived fast here... from 19° to 73° in a matter of
4 days.
So took some time to be outside for a few days.
I did find enough time to felt a little so here is more progress on Mother Earth. Land masses done except Australia. Arms are covered and heads will make an entrance next time.
Still a million and one more stabs to go.

As an artist my mind never shuts up when I am hot on a project. Thrashing around in bed makes it worse. So I was awake at 3:30 and up by 4:00.
What was foremost on my mind was if the continent map I made yesterday was going to fit.
So a dress rehearsal was in order. All is good so far👍.
