Fredrickson Aviation Accelerated Flight School and Checkride preparation.

Today I had a chance to help an instrument student potentially find a check ride when he had multiple check ride cancellations or last minute check rides offers that he could not make work.

The sad thing is I have a date for him later in August but his school refuses to sign him off. The sad thing is he has been trying since February to have a check ride.

I just at a loss that a school would stand in the way of a student finishing up because they don’t want to lose out on a few flight lessons.

What are your thoughts or have you had this happen to you ?

Weather delays. Maintenance issues. These things happen — the question is whether your program stops when they do.

If a school doesn't have a simulator or a backup aircraft, every setback adds time to your training. Your "accelerated" program just became something else entirely.

And then there's the CFI binder. If you're building your lesson plans from scratch, you're not training — you're doing admin work. That could cost you weeks, maybe months.

The time you're there should be spent learning how to teach. Not figuring out how to format a document.

The best programs have already solved these problems before you walk in the door.

Everything should be ready. The schedule, the binder, the backup plan.

One or two flights a week isn't accelerated. That's just dragging out your training.

A real program gives you daily structure — and one instructor, start to finish.

If your checkride isn't scheduled before you start, your timeline is already broken.

Most students finish training and wait weeks — sometimes months — for a checkride slot. That's time you're not building hours.

Ask how many CFIs they finish per month. Two or three per year? No system. Six to ten? That's a track record.
