Congratulations to third grader Olivia Clifford, who was recognized at the Academy Art Museum for her participation in the annual ChesMRC Hispanic Heritage Month Poster Contest! Olivia’s poster highlighted fun facts about Chile and featured the country’s flag. We are so proud of Olivia for sharing her creativity and learning through art!

A huge thank you to the Tilghman Island Volunteer Fire Company for visiting TES on Friday! Our students had the chance to learn important fire safety tips, ask questions, and hear directly from our local firefighters about how they help keep our community safe. They also learned more about what to do in an emergency and why practicing fire safety at school and at home matters. We are so grateful for the time they spent with our students and for the care they continue to show our school and community!

Happy National Coaches Day to Mrs. Stovall!

Kristen is always looking closely at what our students need and finding ways to help them grow. From helping shape our WIN block and summer tutoring to providing direct academic support, coaching and mentoring staff, and creating opportunities for students to connect through buddy activities, she keeps students at the center of the work.

We’re so thankful for the care and support she gives our students and staff every day!

We are squeezing in every instructional minute on this early dismissal! Our 5th graders were working on fall Power Writing today.

Power Writing is a short, timed writing routine that helps students build writing fluency and stamina by putting their ideas on paper without getting stuck trying to make every sentence perfect. Students track how much they are able to write over time so they can see their own growth as writers.

A great way to keep our students writing, thinking, and growing even on a short day!

Tiger Buddies were back together today! Our older and younger students spent time reading books and building words together. These buddy activities give our older students a chance to lead, encourage, and support, while helping our younger students build relationships across the school. It was also a great way to connect our buddy time to our school literacy goal by giving students another meaningful opportunity to practice reading and word work together We love seeing students learn from one another and feel connected to the bigger TES community.
