Wildcat Families,

We are excited to welcome our students back for a new school year and are especially thrilled to open our new academic building at RCHS! With the opening of this new facility, there will be a change to the traffic pattern for student drop-off and pick-up. Please review the information below and refer to the accompanying graphic to help plan your route.

Parents dropping off high school students should use the left lane and drop students off in front of the new high school entrance. Please do not drop students off before reaching the designated drop-off area. Dropping students off before the designated area creates a safety hazard. The right lane is reserved exclusively for school buses.

Student drivers assigned in the North or South Parking Lot will also utilize the left lane. A designated bypass lane is available for student drivers to access the North and South Parking Lot before reaching the parent drop-off area. Parents and staff will not be permitted to use the bus lane to access other areas of campus.

Please use the designated traffic lanes and follow all posted signs and staff directions to help ensure a safe and efficient arrival for everyone. Please refer to the attached graphic.

After being dropped off, students may use the designated crosswalk to safely access the CTAE/Cafeteria for breakfast.

Beginning Monday, August 3, 2026, Rabun County Schools will implement Georgia's House Bill 1009 (HB 1009), expanding our existing personal electronic device procedures to include high school (grades 9-12) students.

Last school year, Georgia's House Bill 380 (HB 380) prohibited the use of personal electronic devices during the instructional day for students in grades K-8. HB 1009 extends those requirements to students in grades 9-12, creating consistent expectations for all Georgia public school students.

What does this mean for students?

Students in all grade levels (Pre-K through 12) will be expected to follow the district's personal electronic device procedures during the school day.

Cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds, tablets, AI glasses, and other personal electronic devices and wearables should remain powered off and put away throughout the school day.

Students who need to contact a parent or guardian during the school day may do so through the school office. Likewise, parents needing to reach their child should contact the school's front office.

These expectations are designed to reduce distractions, increase student engagement, support a positive learning environment, and maximize instructional time for every student
