Rigor from Day One ✍️

Three weeks into the school year, our students were already deep into rigorous writing work — drafting, revising, and going back to add rich details that strengthen their writing.

This is what high expectations look like in action: students learning early that good writing isn’t written once, it’s crafted through revision.

Proud of our Len Lastinger teachers for setting the tone for a year of growth, and proud of our students for rising to meet it. 📝

Charles Spencer teachers worked alongside our Rollins Center coaches to analyze student diagnostic data and gain a clearer understanding of where students are in their decoding development.

Through this collaborative work, teachers examined the data and used what they learned to form targeted small groups based on students’ specific needs. This is an important first step in ensuring students receive instruction and support that meets them where they are and helps move their reading development forward.

We are proud of our teachers for their commitment to using data, collaborating with colleagues, and continuing to strengthen literacy instruction for every student!

Tift County Schools was pleased to welcome coaches from the Rollins Center for Language & Literacy to our monthly Instructional Coaches Job-Alike!

This professional learning focused on strengthening coaches’ ability to build trusting relationships with administrators and teachers while developing a clear understanding of the important distinction between supporting and evaluating.

Participants also explored practical tools and strategies to strengthen their coaching practices and better support teachers in implementing effective literacy instruction. By investing in our instructional coaches, we continue to build capacity across our district and improve learning experiences for every student.

Investing in Leadership, Investing in Students 🎓

This week, our school system leaders came together for a day of professional learning and collaboration — sharpening our practice, sharing what’s working in our schools, and recommitting to continuous improvement.

Great schools don’t happen by accident. They’re built by leaders who never stop learning, growing, and pushing each other to do better for our students and families.

Grateful for a team that shows up ready to lead, learn, and grow together.

Kindness costs nothing, but its impact can be priceless!

During Be Kind to Humankind Week, look for a simple way to help someone—hold the door open, lend a hand, or invite someone to join you.

Together, we can make our schools and community brighter! 💙

🍉🌱 Did You Know? Tift County Helps Feed Georgia! 🌱🍈

Agriculture is an important part of who we are in Tift County, and our local farmers play a major role in Georgia’s agricultural success!

🍉 Tift County is the #2 watermelon-producing county in Georgia!
🍈 Tift County is the #1 cantaloupe-producing county in Georgia!

Those rankings represent more than crops—they represent the hard work, long hours, knowledge, and dedication of the farmers and agricultural families who help keep our community and our state growing.

We are proud of Tift County’s strong agricultural heritage and grateful for the farmers who work every day to put fresh Georgia-grown products on tables near and far.

From the classroom to the farm, agriculture is an important part of the story of Tift County!

Tift County Schools was proud to host the Coastal Plains RESA Job-Alike for Pre-K Project Directors at Len Lastinger Elementary School!

Ms. Emily Graham, Pre-K SEEDS Specialist, led professional learning focused on the Pre-K Pyramid Kit and the key practices Project Directors should look for during classroom visits. The Pyramid Kit equips Pre-K teachers with resources and strategies to strengthen children’s social-emotional development and address challenging behaviors through positive, proactive practices.

We appreciate the opportunity to collaborate, learn, and grow alongside early learning leaders from across our region as we work to support our youngest learners!
