When is your due date? ❤️ These amazing ladies McKenna Stanford, Kierra Bouie, Makhayla Robinson, and Sheridan Byers discussed their due dates and conversed casually with each other during our midwifery photoshoot. I told them my mission and they were all in. I am so thankful to you beautiful ladies for your help.Expecting a baby can be a little scary, expecting mothers can often find support among themselves but especially from caring providers like myself, a midwife ❤️I love what I do and empowering women is something I really love. I am presenting something I’ve worked very very hard on that I hope will make a huge difference for expecting mothers. Maternity health is in a crisis in the United States. I decided to stand on the front lines and create a program that supports moms and their families. Tomorrow☺️❤️ Official launch is tomorrow!! Photography video cred

Postpartum can be such a weird time. I was so happy about my new baby. I was so sad about my new baby. I was staring at this beautiful perfect little being and I couldn’t understand why I felt like the world was falling apart.

I remember going to my routine postpartum check up(well not so routine I had a foley🙄) and I told my doctor, “I’m fine”.

I went back to work 8 weeks postpartum and began to feel normal again. Then I felt guilty because I felt better when I started working again.

Did you experience the blues or postpartum depression? For me it was depression. I never for one second didn’t want to take care of my baby but I definitely stopped taking care of me and my self esteem was so low. I did not recognize my body and I really wanted to dissociate myself from it. The new stretchmarks, the excess skin on my tummy, the new c section scar that I feared would keloid. I remember just being so shocked that when I sneezed it felt like my entire pelvic floor collapsed. I was always used to being “The pretty girl” and I felt that pregnancy made me ugly. My marriage was in a bad place.

I struggled really bad! Postpartum can be so lonely, confusing, and just the emotional roller coasters can make you exhausted!
But I overcame! I went on to accomplish some amazing things and WE are raising two happy healthy little boys!

If you are struggling with postpartum depression talk about it with someone. Be honest with your provider. It is okay to need medication. It is okay to need therapy. You can reach out to me❤️ . We can talk about different treatment options you can bring up to your provider. I can help direct you to local resources. We can just talk.
