Our preschoolers had so much fun helping to chop the carrots, celery, and onions for the matzah ball soup we’ll be enjoying at our Passover seder today! 🥕🥖 They took their jobs very seriously, carefully slicing the veggies with plastic knives. Can’t wait to savor this nourishing soup together as we celebrate the holiday. ”

The Passover story came alive in our classrooms! Over the past two weeks, each class built a shared, hands-on scene—and the energy was incredible.

- Rimonim and Keshet built the pyramids 🏜️
- Anavim designed the Nile 🌊
- Tamarim brought the burning bush to life 🔥
- Zetim added rocks along the river 🪨

Piece by piece, the story took shape. Our children stepped right into it—eyes wide, questions flowing, understanding growing. Our teachers were right there with them, collaborating across classrooms and modeling curiosity. Thank you to our amazing educators and students for your creativity, teamwork, and wonder. This is the power of hands-on learning.

What’s next? We’ll keep exploring the symbols of the Seder through art, sensory experiences, and storytelling. Keep an eye out—your children will be creating something special to share at home.

Heartfelt thanks to the organizers of KEHILLAH & KAVOD: Sacred Connections for an unforgettable gathering at the Oshman Family JCC. The focus on spirituality, community, and self-care was exactly what our educator community needed. From meaningful learning to genuine relationship-building, we felt honored, appreciated, and uplifted.

With deep appreciation to co-creators Mykenzie Busser, MAEd (OFJCC) and Karla Cianci, MAEd (JCCSF), the dedicated OFJCC team, The EarlyJ Foundation, and American Jewish University (AJU). Your vision and care brought our community together and reminded us of the sacred impact educators make every day.

A special thank you to The Grove Preschool families for supporting our work every day and for allowing our administrators and teachers to take time for professional development. Your partnership makes this growth possible.

Thank you for celebrating us—and for strengthening the connections that sustain our work. JCCSF EarlyJFoundation AJU TheGrovePreschool Gratitude ProfessionalDevelopment JewishCommunity SelfCare Spirituality

Today, I introduced to Black History Month through a lesson rooted in Jewish values and Jewish language.
We discussed the Jewish idea of being created in the image of God, b’tzelem Elohim. We talked about love, ahava, and how love guides how we treat one another.
We learned about Martin Luther King Jr. and talked about kindness, fairness, and caring for others. We discussed how his actions showed love and respect for people of all backgrounds.
We explored these ideas through a hands-on activity. We looked at eggs with different colored shells. When we cracked them open, the insides looked the same. The message was clear.
People look different on the outside. On the inside, we share the same values.
This lesson supports early understanding of differences in a developmentally appropriate way. It builds empathy and respect.
It connects Jewish values, Jewish language, and Black History Month. At the end, the children smiled and said, now we make scrambled eggs.

✨ A Light-Filled Thank You ✨🕎

As Hanukkah begins, I am filled with gratitude for your support, trust, and the incredible light your children bring to our community every day.

This year, our class menorah project was inspired by the Kotel (Western Wall) in Jerusalem. We talked about its meaning as a place of strength, hope, and connection to something greater. My hope is that the menorah your child created sparks questions, pride, and a special light in your home this holiday.

Thank you for being part of our program and helping us build such a strong, loving community.

Wishing you all a bright and peaceful Hanukkah!

- Morah Rachel

🌟 What a great morning! 🌟

Thank you to everyone who came out to our kickoff Bagel + Bounce house party last Sunday. We had such a huge turnout, and it’s a powerful reminder of why we do this — the spaces and events we can build together. This is more than just a school, it’s our community. 💙

That energy and spirit were exactly what we needed to launch this campaign — and we’re off to an amazing start! Thanks to your generosity, we’ve already raised $13,150, nearly one-third of our $36,000 goal. To everyone who has already donated: thank you! 🙌

If you haven’t had a chance yet, please consider joining me in donating today. Every contribution makes a difference. You can give at 👉 thegrovefund.org/give or visit thegrovefund.com for all the details.

Together, we’re building something special. Let’s keep the momentum going!
