Surprise! Big News!

The choirs have been given the opportunity to perform in Heinz Chapel this December! Traveling for this event will be the HS Concert Choir, Blue + Gold Tones, and the cast of the musical!

Mark your calendars for Dec 12 if you want to make sure you’re free for the adventure! If there is enough interest, we may work out the logistics of a bus for family and community members to ride in and carpool to the event! More details to come on that in the next month.

Join us for our winter choral concert program on December 8 in the SHC Auditorium! The students have been hard at work with a lot of the groups already having at least one piece ready for the performance!

If you join us, you can look forward to selections like:
- Dark Night of the Soul - O. Gjeilo
- Father Thunder - L. Jekabsone
- Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen - J. Brahms
- Where the Light Begins - S. LaBarr
- The Colors of Christmas - J. Rutter

This has been a week full of auditions and updates!

Announcing the cast of SHC’s 2027 winter musical: Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame!

We will add even more to our cast later in September at the Middle School invitational auditions (date TBD) and we can’t forget our awesome crew behind the scenes who we will start to add in December and January!

Yesterday evening, rising junior Avery Jenkins, recent class of ‘26 graduate Emma Viener, and Mr. Aujay participated in the third annual Pennsylvania Summer Choral Society concert under the direction of Mr. Connor Hummel at Altoona Area High School.

The concert was titled “Between Earth and Sky” and featured such selections as Jake Runestad’s “Come to the Woods” and Shawn Kirchner’s “Unclouded Day.” Avery and Mr. Aujay sang with the Concert Choir of over 130 voices. Mr. Aujay also sang with the Chamber Choir. Emma performed as the flautist in the chamber orchestra which accompanied the choir on Z. Randall Stroope’s “The Pasture” and Aaron Copland’s “Zion’s Walls,” the latter of which featured instrumental parts arranged by Mr. Aujay.

Congratulation to all on a wonderful concert!

It’s time to share the results from Wednesday’s hunt for show announcement posters!

Cassville’s poster was never claimed though it was removed from its location by the County Store.

The first poster was found by senior CJ Bindschusz by the Shade Gap Elementary School. The other Shade Gap poster was placed by the Presbyterian Church and was collected but the prize was never claimed.

Saltillo’s poster was found next by 8th Grader Adalee Whitsel near the EBT station!

The next poster found was at the Three Springs EMS which was found by Connor Beeler.

Senior Connie Jones found the fourth poster at the EBT in Rockhill followed quickly by senior Kara Harper finding a poster at the Three Springs ball-field.

Next came freshman Abby Gilmore who found a poster near the Rockhill Church of the Nazarene.

The final posters to be found were in Orbisonia. They were found by 6th grader Presley McMullen at the Outreach Center, where 1776 is playing, and Toryn Shotts, near George’s Used Cars, respectively.

Finally, a special shout out is due to the sibling trio of Connor, Adalee, and CJ who, between the three of them found 7/10 posters and messaged me with their locations before any of the others were claimed. They were only able to claim 1 prize each so they left them for others.

All students above will receive some vintage Hunchback merchandise as their prizes.

Victor Hugo’s 1831 gothic epic comes to the SHC stage this winter!

This show, based off of the epic tale of the hunchbacked bell ringer Quasimodo, the Gypsy dancer Esmeralda, and the manipulative Archdeacon Claude Frollo has been adapted from the famed 1996 Disney movie. With music by Disney legends Alan Menken (Aladdin, Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid) and Stephen Schwartz (Pippin, Wicked, The Prince of Egypt), you do not want to miss this tour-de-force musical drama!
