Now that the school has had the chance to post the very sad news about the ACE grant not being renewed, I am now free to speak about it and/or answer any questions the community may have. First, let me clarify - the ACE Program is a 5 year federal Grant that had to be reapplied for at the end of its 5 years. Committees in TEA read these very lengthy/ detailed grant applications and award slots to only a handful of schools throughout the State.
Three Rivers ISD did not write the grant in 2021 and did not write this new one in 2026. ! Our grant was written by the Regional ServiceCenter 2 out of Corpus Christi. They were the fiscal agent ( the ones paying the bills) for Three Rivers, George West, and Beeville. If my memory serves correctly, only 51 groups received grants 5 years ago! The Regional Service Center applied this last January for another 5 years. After all the rounds of reading and judging to determine who to award grants to, we did not make the cut! There is no appeal process! The decision is final! The only thing we can do is come together as a community to discuss, plan, and commit ourselves to ways of continuing to help our students.
With that being said, I personally want to express my gratitude to Three Rivers ISD for welcoming ACE into their district and for each parent and guardian who entrusted us with your children and especially to the students who came every day.
The Three Rivers ACE program excelled in every way, earning high marks in the State and built a reputation in the grant community for being hard working and for going above and beyond! I am proud of the 5 years we got to have in TR and will dearly miss my students!
